Crop Comfort.

Dawn at low tideI don’t know about you but I love new beginnings. It’s a chance to start with a clean slate and let any mistakes fall away to where they belong, in the past.
There’s something very comforting about the start of a new season, it’s been coming around since the world began and pays no heed to political or economic goings on. You can be sure that although the circumstances around you may change the breaking of a sharp January dawn will move steadily to a sweet smelling July sunrise and on to the musty, leaf fall mornings of September and October.

I think there’s great solace in this, that every year the garden starts afresh with that bright yellowy green of new growth no matter what other stuff is happening in your life. So get out there, love your leeks, connect with your cauliflower and bond with your beans! Even if you do a little you’ll get tremendous satisfaction from the gentle pop of a succulent pea or a plate piled bouncily with frilly salad leaves picked from outside your back door.
