Getting The Most Out Of Your Harvest

Another great book from author and journalist Alys Fowler. In this book Alys offers information and advice on how to make the most of what you grow. Including detailed explanations on how best to harvest and store home grown foods so they keep far better than shop bought fruit and vegetables. Alys ably details the various methods of growing, harvesting, drying, jamming, pickling, fermenting, bottling and freezing all with delicious recipes. Whether you have a balcony, small backyard, allotment or large country garden there are plenty of useful tidbits in this book for you. Abundance would make the perfect gift for Christmas, birthdays or other occasions, it is a great read that can be turned to again and again.

From The Book:

Fresh home grown produce is a delight. The taste of sun warmed tomatoes, sweet strawberries, crunchy cucumbers and crisp apples are immediate, but a winter of these summer flavours preserved, now that's a feeling of satisfaction.

Alys Fowler is a broadcaster, journalist and bestselling author of the following books:

  • The Thrifty Gardener: How to Create a Stylish Garden for Next to Nothing
  • Garden Anywhere: How to Grow Gorgeous Container Gardens, Herb Gardens, Kitchen Gardens and More without Spending...
  • The Edible Garden: How to Have Your Garden and Eat It, Too
  • The Thrifty Forager Living Off Your Local Landscape

Really like the way ALys writes. Very down to earth and entertaining. has brilliant ideas, tips and recipes for using up all the produce that you have laboured over all year and some foraging ideas too. Have it on my book shelf and plan to make some marrow jam among other things!!!
