Chillington Canterbury Fork Hoe Or Right Angled Fork With Handle

In a nutshell....

Chillington Canterbury Right Angled Fork Hoe With Handle is for breaking up soil and weeding much faster than a traditional fork. A personal favourite of mine.

Handle Size

The Canterbury Fork Hoe From Chillington is Ideal For Easily Working Raised Beds, comes with handle included

Chillington Canterbury Fork Hoe ( also known as a Fork Azada ) is for breaking up soil and weeding much faster than a traditional fork and easier on your back aswell....strong construction with a Chillington 12 month warranty. This is a personal favourite of mine and I use it all the time for all sorts of jobs. Weeding is something I particularily hate but this tool really does make it so much more managable, you can rake out small weeds and easily lever out large clumps of skutch grass and stubborn deep root plants. I'm not just tying to sell this, I genuinely love this tool!

The long fingers on the fork head are long enough to break up the soil to a depth for the deepest of root vegetable crops. If using raised beds then the yearly deep digging isnt needed and all that needs doing to prepare the soil for planting is just loosening and breaking up the soil to a depth deep enough for your crops roots. The Chillington Canterbury Fork can easily do this and because it comes equipped with a 1200mm long handle, it allows you to access the complete width of your raised beds with ease and no climbing on top of them or bad backs as sometimes happens when using the standard garden fork.

We had heard a lot about these solid no nonsense gardening tools before decided to stock them. They are bomb proof old fashioned implements that really last a lifetime. The blade of these tools sits at right angles to the shaft making digging, chopping and levering motions so much easier and more natural than an ordinary spade or fork. You can do some serious damage with these vegetable gardening heavies! Just remember they are not a fancy pants new gardening tool so the handles are old style rough and ready but they certainly do the job.

Handle Length: 120 cm (47.5 in)

Head Size: 11.5cm x 19cm (4.5cm x 7.5cm)

seen the video of you lot ripping up some ground with one of these and it got me thinking. I am very glad I made the jump and bought one and I can confirm that no camera trickery was employed.

My favourite tool on the allotment! Great for breaking up weedy ground and raking out couch grass roots in one swoop. Moves compost piles quickly, helps spread clumpy manure, even out dug ground - loads of uses. A must-have tool in my shed.

This is an amazing fork. I was using pitchforks for a large amount of time and would always feel it in my back the next day. This is brilliant for weeding and digging through soil and the leverage action ensures that you use your arms over your back. The head is incredibly solid and the only reason i'm leaving a star off was that the handle was a slight bit chipped. Other than that I'm wholly pleased with my purchase and was very happy with the delivery speed.

This makes forking over my raised beds incredibly easy. It's a sturdy and substantial tool that I can see lasting many years. As I'm 6ft tall I wondered which handle length to go for; I opted for the standard in the end and this is more than adequate for my 8ft x 4ft beds. My only initial gripe was that I found it difficult to get the fork head to slide far enough down the handle shaft to stay in place, but I eventually gave it a few good bashes with my boot heel and it stuck, having realised that it was sturdy ehough to take this and not bend out of shape. Most people probably know to do this, but a few instructions on the site would be useful

I am not particularly strong in the arms and have a bad back. This is a seriously easy hoe to use, the substantial weight of the head does all the work, all you have to do is swing downwards. Great for breaking up the soil.

This tool has fast become the one I always take out of the shed. Absolutely brilliant for clearing ground, weeding, just about anything. I have since bought the heavy duty hoe which I also found to be very good but the canterbury fork hoe has to be the best for all round use. Very pleased with this purchase and would recommend to anyone.

Great tool and especially good for scraping out roots and clumps of weeds without pulling all of the soil out. Used this tool for heavy duty digging in a long neglected garden patch, alongside partner who had the Chillington heavy duty hoe. What should have taken us a day took us only a couple of hours to get the soil ready for garlic. Very impressed with these tools.

I bought this tool specifically for heavy duty weeding this year and I am not sorry. It is a great tool for breaking down hard clods after digging over a tough piece of ground. It is also exceptional in softer ground that has been dug for weeding out those insidious weeds, particularly creeping butter cup which it hoes to it's roots but also clumps of couch grass and other ground creeping weeds. I gave a lend to my allotment neighbour recently and she wants to purchase it on for it's ability to break down the hard clay clods of soil. If you are working on tough clay soil this is definitely a good tool. Additionally on ground that has been worked it has the power to loosen the top soil without extraneous digging both good for the soil and good on your back. I strongly recommend it for all of the above.

I use this to dig into areas and lift them to take out weeds and loosen up compacted soil....invaluable if your doing any sort of landscaping on a small scale!!

Much easier to use than a normal fork. The longer version of the handle gives great leverage when digging. I found it hard to get the head to stay on but a couple of nails wedged it securely.

I've used this hoe twice since delivery & it has become one of the most useful tools I've acquired. Lightweight & easy to use, great for loosening up soil in preparation for sowing & much easier on your back than a conventional fork or spade. Highly recommend one to all gardeners!

This tool is surprisingly good for clearing ground despite its relatively small size. Once I got the levering method (thanks for the video!) right I couldn't believe how quick I could work. So good to make a new discovery after all these years!

I use the CC Fork to break up soil and remove weeds. It is light but robust, easy to use. Its gets the job done. My sole complaint is that like all the other chillington digging tools I cannot get the head to stay tight. Its a little annoying!

I bought the chillington Canterbury fork hoe last week. I used it yesterday and found it brilliant. I was doing edging of grass that was coming on to my vegetable and put the fork hoe in and it lifted the grass off very well. I have a bad back and i found using it fast and easy to use. Love this company's products. May

This tool is more versatile and more useful than I imagined. It has been amazing for digging up rushes and couch grass on some rough land I want to use. Just swing the fork, allow the weight of it to dig deep, then draw the handle over and the fork pulls up the intrusive clump, no problem. Makes light an otherwise difficult job that would be backbreaking with upright fork or spade. Sturdy tool, a stunning 'must have' gift for gardeners.

Excellent product - love it. A really quality tool that feels like it's been refined over generations to do the job to perfection.

Hello there, I have a small back garden(12ft x 8ft) that is overgrown with weeds and would like to dig it up. I also have a lawn in my front garden that I would also like to dig up and resow. Would the Canterbury For Hoe be suitable for these jobs?
