order tulips and daffodils online for home deliveryThis is the classic big yellow daffodil that we’ve all known and loved since we were children. Uniform rich golden yellow periant and trumpet deeply frilled and open at mouth, while the entire flower is beautifully proportioned and of distinctly refined shape, of great substance and a tall grower making it an excellent choice for borders or cut flower displays. This incredibly popular narcissus has been around for hundreds of years and holds the RHS Award of Garden merit, its classic bright sunny flowers a sure sign that spring has sprung. They prefer sunny locations, well sheltered from the wind. Will naturalise well when planted in grass or under tress and can be left undisturbed for years. Height 40cm. Flowers March to April.

Planting/Growing Instructions
Plant at least 10cm deep in the autumn. Space as desired or plant in clumps for a cluster display. Daffodils prefer a spot well sheltered from the wind, preferably with plenty of access to sun.

Cultural Instructions
Best planted in well drained, fertile soil. Keep soil moist during the growing season and allow the leaves to die back naturally before deadheading. They can be lifted and moved once the foliage has died off or they can be left to naturalise when planted in grass or under trees, where they can be left undisturbed for years.

Hi Jane. Most flowering bulbs are planted in Sept/Oct and this includes daffodil King Alfred. Narcissi (daffodils) root earlier than tulips so it is best to get them in before the end of September. I hope this helps. Andrew
