Envirogrind Soil Enriching Compost. Outside Dublin

In a nutshell....

Envirogrind is simply rocket fuel for growing vegetables. We run out of it each year due to the fact that it is just so good and its what we use on our own gardens. It is the best there is.

Envirogrind Is Rocket Fuel For The Vegetable Garden

Note: Envirogrind is too strong to grow in to directly. It needs to be added to existing topsoil roughly one third Envirogrind to two thirds existing soil

Bag Size: 1 metre cubed or approx 1 ton (800 kilograms_

As we all know growing vegetables takes a lot out of a garden because when we remove our nutritious crops we remove nutrition from the soil. This has to be given back. The really good stuff in the soil is composter organic matter which provides food for your plants, the worms and all the little micro organisms that live in your soil. The microbial life in your soil breaks down nutrients and feeds it to the hungry roots of your plants. It is a wonderful cycle and the corner stone of life on Earth.

The vegetable gardener cannot produce enough of their own compost to keep up nutrient levels in the garden. If you think about it all you're giving back is the waste material, the bulk of the produce is eaten by you and your family and thus doesn't return to the garden. So, we need to substitute in the form of farmyard manure or compost.

Envirogrind is the best form of compost we have found in Ireland, it has all the nutrients the garden needs and is a perfectly balanced, sustainable product. Unlike other composts it contains a high percentage of composted fish waste from Killybegs. This adds a whole host of amino acids, vitamins and macro and micro nutrients important for healthy growth. Here's how it's made:

What's in it?
The percentages of composted materials are:  Food 40% - Fish 20% and green 40%.  It goes through a 14 week process in a closed Vessel composting facility.  It naturally reaches a temperature of 70 degrees which kills off pathogens and weed seeds.

What's so great about it?

It's a very well balanced product with large amounts of potassium and potash as well as slow release nitrogen.

We recommend using it as a mulch or soil improver.  It's best worked into the surface of the soil rather than dug in completely.

It is completely weed free. Fresh manure can contain weeds like thistle and scutch grass or pests like flat worm or leatherjackets. Envirogrind is totally clear of any of these.

It greatly increases crop yield. We added one bucket to a square metre of soil and left another without. The untreated metre gave us 2.5kg of potatoes while the envirogrind metre gave us 5kg. Maths wasn't my forte at school but even I can see that's double the yield.

It is a natural product which recycles food and plant waste to turn it into a sustainable, peat free compost product.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

While every effort is made to remove any foreign bodies from the soil and compost we supply we cannot guarantee it is completely free of small fragments of sharp objects. All our soil and compost must pass thorough a fine screening process down to a 20mm but small unwanted particles can escape this process.

While it is unusual to find small pieces of glass or ceramic with sharp edges this does happen from time to time. We strongly recommend using a good pair of gardening gloves when handling any topsoil or municipal compost and our mix is no exception.

IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFORMATION - PLEASE READ

Delivery is Kerbside delivery. We don't guarantee the bag can be left within the boundry of your property. If we can't access your driveway the bag will be left at the closest point possible.

The soil is delivered in cubic metre bags placed on a wooden pallet. The soil can only go as close to your site as the hand operated pallet truck allows. The truck is not equipped with a grab so bags cannot be lifted over walls or hedges.

While the delivery driver will do his best to get the bag as close as he can to your property he is unable to move the bag over kerbs, up an incline or on loose gravel surfaces. Remember the bag is a tonne weight and once off the truck is moved by the effort of the driver alone.

If you are unsure about access to your property please call us beforehand to discuss.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU REFUSE DELIVERY WE WILL REFUND PART OF YOUR ORDER BUT YOU WILL BE LIABLE FOR A €55.00 DELIVERY CHARGE.

I bought this product in march and I used it all over my garden. the results were fantastic. I had been using farmyard manure for years with mixed results, but this soil enhancer has turned my flower and vegetable beds into a lush healthy looking garden. I am very impressed with this product.

I have used this product to enrich my 50'raised beds, without resource to pure chemical fertiliser. Had to stop buying this year as it is too expensive for me to put an effective layer offer four 50' X 6' raised beds. Though have to say this is a very good product if you can afford it,especially as this year I bought a cheaper 'Compost' available local to me in Co.Waterford but feel that it might have been contaminated by some form of weedkiller/herbicide as my veg seeds and other crops failed to thrive, some failing to grow at all.

The perfect compost for my veggie garden. I live in monaghan and didn't fancy loading and unloading the boot so i found this envirogrind enriched stuff here. I received it the next day and the delivery driver helped me bring it around the back next to my raised beds. This really is, as the description says rocket fuel.

Ooo, this is great compost, not gritty. This is going to be a great time saving boost to give plants a rich growing medium. The delivery person was also very helpful with placing the sack where it was most convenient for me.

I have ordered a total of 4 tons of Envirogrind Soil Enriching Compost!! Two, which I have used myself, and the other two as Birthday Gifts for my brothers! We all just love using it. It is easy and friable, gives the plants essential nutrients to last for several seasons, and it no hardship to work or weed. I am happy to recommend it to anyone who wants to give their plants the best.

Delivery driver very helpful in positioning the 1 ton bale into place. My gardening time is limited and the Envirogrind is so convenient and clean to handle, with no weed seeds waiting to germinate in my plot. Have to keep an eye on my better half, or it will all go on the roses and flower beds.

This soil is just fantastic, large quantity & very easy to work with. Having used it last year I had no hesitation in reordering some again this year as I had made some new raised beds. Excellent next day delivery!

We just received our annual Envirogrind order, and will spend the winter improving the beds in our polytunnels. We rake the compost into all the empty beds, but always hold some back for the spring. Every one of our 300 tomato plants and 60 or so peppers are planted out with a good handful in the planting hold. Great product!

This was my second delivery of envirogrind .Last year I used it in the vegetable garden and had a bumper crop of sharpes express potatoes onions and garlic .i also used it when I planted out dahlias in flower beds and they grew bigger than ever before and produced an abundance of flowers. This year I'm putting on all my shrubs and flower beds and expecting great results

I use this as a top dressing for everything, having inherited some depleted soil. It has been brilliant and everything that grows in it, veg and flowers/shrubs, have been really healthy. I have had very little slug problems and i think this may be because of the bits of sharp shells that are in the product stay on the suface when the rest washes down. It's really pleasant and easy to use and has saved me what would have been years of fertility building.

I bought Envirogring Soil Enriching Compost last year, specifically to add to my raised beds, having run out of my own home-made compost. I can't believe the difference it made. I had a really good vegetable growing season. I've never grown better carrots, parsnips, leeks, runner beans or peas. I've already added a top-up to the raised beds for the coming season, and I'm in the process of adding Environgrind compost to the greenhouse to boost the performance of the tomatoes, the cucumbers and and the peppers for the coming season. Initially, I was sceptical about the product, but after one season's usage, I have no hesitation in recommending it to other gardeners.

Hi there, can this be used for fruit bushes, Im transplanting a 2 year old blueberry and a blackcurrant plant into a raised bed as the ground they are in is too shallow and too clayey!
Answered by Niall
on September 20th, 2021
Hi Kevin It can be used for adding to the soil to add nutrients and then plant the blackcurrant. Just don't grow in to the Envirogrind on its own as it is to strong. Blueberries need a different soil altogether. It is best to plant them in an Ericaceous soil (or acid soil). They won't do well in ordinary compost or soil mixes Niall Quickcrop

HI Darren It might be a bit strong for perennials. I would use a product like Jacks Magic or New Horizon etc for Perennials Niall Quickcrop
Asked By Sandra Quinn
on April 30th, 2020
can this be used to fill in a new raised bed? I bought it for this purpose since in the description it says that "It can be used as a soil improver or used neat in raised beds without any problems." And it arrived today. But then I happened to be looking though the questions and I see you contradict this on 20th March 2018 where you say "The Envirogrind is to strong to grow in to directly." So now I'm really confused! I have a tonne of this stuff to fill in my new raised beds which are sitting on gravel. Can I use it neat or do I need to mix it with something? Thanks
Answered by Niall
on May 01st, 2020
You can grow potatoes directly in to it and some other hungry crops like brassicas however it is to rich for the likes of carrots, parsnips etc If you mix some topsoil in to the top layer with it it will be fine Niall Quickcrop

Can this be used to fill a new raised bed?
Answered by Niall
on May 01st, 2020
Hi Sandra Not fully no. You really need to be mixing this with existing topsoil as this is so strong and will burn the roots of most plants on its own. The Veg mix we do is the perfect mix for just tipping in and getting going Niall Quickcrop

What is the coverage for 1 tonne when used as an annual soil enricher on raised beds pleased?
Answered by Niall

Hi Kay You should normally spread at a rate of 2/3 inches on to existing raised beds. If doing it this way a tonne bag will cover 15/20 square metres of beds Regards Niall Quickcrop
Asked By Mark Purcell
on December 30th, 2018
What is the ph and NPK ratio of the soil?
Answered by Niall
on January 02nd, 2019
Hi Mark The PH of Envirogrind is neutral or in and around 6 to 6.5. The product has a low NPK as it is more of a soil improver rather than a plant feed although as it breaks up your soil the NPK starts to improve so it does lead to much healthier plants I hope this is not to confusing Regards Niall Quickcrop
Asked By Stephen
on August 10th, 2018
Hi. Is this free from any chemical residues?
Answered by Niall
on August 10th, 2018
Hi Stephen Envirogrind is a mix of the waste from fish factories in Donegal and the park waste from around the country so it is not a certified organic product and as a result it can have chemicals gone through it before composting. That said the composting is very intense and lasts for 3/4 weeks at temperatures of up to 70 degrees Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi there I am very keen to order 3 to 4 tons for delivery to Kerry but I need to be sure that the trucj can fit up my drive. Can you give details fo the height of the truck including the arm, and the size of the truck please?
Answered by Niall
on April 04th, 2018
I am afraid we can't offer the service of one of our own trucks with the grab to lift the soil off in the Kerry area. We use outside transport companies in the South West who delivery off the back of a truck on a pallet. These trucks are quite large. They don't do timed deliveries although they are supposed to ring you before they leave the warehouse with your delivery to give an estimated delivery time Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi - to start (and fill) raised bed with soil - do you recommend this product or just the "simple compost soil" for €119 outside Dublin?
Answered by Niall

The simple Veg soil mix is what you want. The Envirogrind is to strong to grow in to directly. It needs to be mixed with existing soil one third Envirogrind to 2 thirds topsoil. Regards Niall Quickcrop
