Our Mini Polytunnel builder page is designed so you can pick all the components you need to build a mini polytunnel without having to skip between product pages.

Our mini tunnels consist of a 2x2 wooden frame which we supply in 3, 4 and 6 ft lengths. You can build a longer tunnel if you wish but you will need to source longer timber locally as the longest length we can send.

The frames are held together by corner tube supports which fix the timber at a right angles and also provide the support for the tubing. We recommend using a single centre tube support for a 6 foot tunnel but you can add as many as you like depending on the length you want to build.

Once you have the supports fixed the tubing is simply slotted in and joined in the middle by the cross piece tube connectors. The same cross piece is used at the gable end of the tunnel as they feature blunt ends which won't tear the polytunnel plastic. For a 3 foot wide tunnel you will need a meter of tubing each side for each hoop, to retain the height on a 4ft wide tunnel use 1.5m of tube. Tubing can be easily cut with a stanley knife to fit your size, it is always handy to order one extra meter of tubing than you need to give you some room for error. As my friend Des says, "I'd rather be looking at it than for it".

When you have the frame of the tunnel built you can fix a choice of coverings to the structure including polythene, enviromesh, fleece or butterfly and bird netting. All coverings are fixed to the frame using the fasteners and washers, have a look at the video to see how this is done.

I'm very pleased with this system. I would suggest though that for anything bigger than 6'x3' that angle brackets should also be used as a 6'x4' or bigger frame will put a lot of strain on the plastic corner pieces. Alternatively you could screw the timber together. If the frame is hinged to a bed you will snap the corner pieces when you open the frame if those hinges seize up or become bound.

Delighted with my purchase, the speed of delivery and most of all the after-sales service. The Quickcrop staff could not have been more helpful or professional in resolving a small issue I encountered. It’s great to know that any problems that may arise will be sorted without any drama.

I bought separate components for a 4'x4'. They are relatively easy to fit, but beware they are plastic. When I was fitting some tubing into a centre tube support I noticed a slight crack appear in the support bracket. Similarly one or two of the net fasteners cracked when using and electric screwdriver- so watch the torque. End result looks ok and should serve its purpose of keeping birds out of the seedlings.

I have listed an order for parts but your results are £10 over your advertised prices. Could you explain please. Also can I add my new requirements to my existing order for an 8x4 kit.

Hi Bruce. I would need to see your order to help on this one. The Parts picker simply adds the price of the components so I can't see how it could end up £10.00 out. Do you have an order number I can check for you? Andrew

Can you please tell me how high I could construct one of your mini tunnels. I have built some 6x1m raised beds and I was hoping to cover one of them with a mini tunnel of sufficient height to grow tomatoes and cucumbers.
Answered by Andrew
on May 12th, 2020
Hi Manfred. I am afraid the mini tunnel kit can not be built to sufficient height for tomatoes or cucumber. The recommended height of the mini tunnel is 750mm while both tomatoes and cucumbers are climbing plants and will need at least 1.5m.

Niall - will the 2.8m x4m Polythene cover the mini tunnel on a a 4' x 8' bed ? Also - do you stock T tube connectors for the ends or do you use the tube connectors with the 4 connections & cut on of those off? Thanks
Answered by Niall
on December 03rd, 2018
Hi Mike If you want to order a Mini polytunnel kit for the 8ft x 4ft bed you will need to contact us directly as the poly will need to supplied bigger. You are right on the end connectors. You will have to use the 4 way connectors at the ends however there is no need to cut off the ends as the Poly will just stretch over the extra end without punturing the plastic Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi Niall - I want to build a mini tunnel to cover my 8x4 foot raised bed. What components do you suggest for this ? Thank you
Answered by Niall
on November 28th, 2018
Hi Mike You just need two additional Centre Tube supports and 3 more pieces of the tubing to make up the an 8ft x 4ft bed. You will however need the longer 8ft pieces of wood and a larger piece of the Poly to cover it but i presume you have that sorted. We will be adding all of the following to the website over the coming weeks Regards Niall Quickcrop

Will the 2.8m x 4m polythene be enough to cover 6'x2' (raised trough) mini tunnel when I have made up the frame using your kit. I realise I will have to cut 4' timber in half for the 2' width and have ideas for using the other 4' timber

Good morning Yes it will cover it fine. You might have to trim the edges a bit or fold the extra underneath the board. You will certainly have enough for your bed cover Regards Niall Quickcrop

Answered by Niall

Hi Justine To be honest that is a very good point and i hadn't thought of it. I am afraid as a result you will have to stake the tomatoes and you won't be able to hang them from the top of the Mini polytunnel Regards Niall Quickcrop

What would you recommend to grow cordon tomatoes in a 6x3 raised bed? I was hoping I could construct some type of tall polytunnel/greenhouse to fit onto the raised bed that would be tall enough to grow the tomatoes and have somewhere at the top to attach string for the tomatoes to grow up.
Answered by Niall

Hi Justine. You can grow them in this unit as you will have 3ft of height within the Mini Polytunnel and you can fix the training string to the cross pieces. Regards Niall Quickcrop

on June 22nd, 2017
Yes, the fasteners will be compatible with the washers. I am not sure when we will have the fasteners yet, we need to get the moulds we have modified to suit a different machine and are waiting for costs etc.. on same. I would expect to have a solution in 6 weeks from now.

I'm very pleased with the quality of the products that have just been delivered for mini poly tunnels project. Hi William. I am afraid we are no longer able to stock the poly fasteners as the company who made them for us went out of business. We are currently looking for a new manufacturer and hope to have the product back on the site very soon.

Hello can you please advise me on the component parts I will need for my beds ty. 100cm x 120cm x 4 beds 90cm x 210cm x 4 beds I would like to use polytunnels as well as being able to change them to netting tunnels. I am ordering vegetable seedlings from you also. thank you for your advice lily
Answered by Andrew
on April 24th, 2017
Hi Lily. Each 100cm x 120cm bed will need 4 x corner pieces, 2 x tube connectors, 4 x 4ft timbers (you will need to shorted 2 a little) and 5 x lengths of tube. Each 210cm bed will need 4 x corner pieces, 4 x center tube supports, 2 x 3ft timbers and 10 lengths of tube. Unfortunately we are not able to supply the timber frame longer than 180cm so you may need to source this locally.

Hi, I bought a mini polytunnel but did not realise it will have to open and close to weed and water. I think I'll have to get a raised bed. do you sell the hinges mentioned in your video?
Answered by Andrew
on March 27th, 2017
Hi Jen. We don't currently sell hinges bit we will be stocking them very soon. The mini tunnels are very easy to lift or move around so it shouldn't cause you too much hardship to lift and water. You will have fewer weeds anyway so shouldn't be too difficult to week either.
Asked By Mark
on February 26th, 2017
In your video, you show ground fixing attachments. Do you sell these? I don't see them here. Also, you don't show how the polythene is fixed to the frame. Does it use the same mechanism as the fleece? If so,won't that tear?
Answered by Andrew
on March 02nd, 2017
Hi Mark. Yes, we use the same method to attach the polythene as the mesh, it is fine for one season if you want to replace the poly with another cover. For a more permanent solution wrap the poly around a timber batten and nail to the timber frame. Yes, we do stock the ground pegs, if you go into the mini polytunnel builder you will see the eyes and pegs on the top row of parts. I include the link for your convenience. https://www.quickcrop.co.uk/product/mini-polytunnel-builder
