Pea and Bean Support Frame

In a nutshell....

Our own design treated timber pea and bean support frame. Our frames are designed to be sturdy and strong while being easy to move as you rotate your crops around the vegetable garden. Our frame is made from treated timber and galvanized fixings and has been built to last.

This product is currently out of stock

Our pea and bean support is a strong 'A' frame construction and is has been designed to fit a standard roll of 5ft pea and bean support mesh. The frame comes in a simple kit form and can be assembled using the galvanized fittings supplied in a matter of minutes. The frame can be used for all climbing crops including peas, beans, cucumbers, and melons but is also ideal for flowering plants like sweet pea or nasturtium.

The frame is made from stout treated timber so is built to last but is also easy to move around your garden where it is required. We believe our new frame support system is a much better solution than the temporary solutions offered by our competitors which are more prone to damage by wind and weather.

Frame width: 4ft

Frame Length: 5ft

Frame Height (once embedded in ground): 5ft

Really recommend these - i have 2 for the allotment that i bought 3 years ago and they have withstood some strong gales and are as good as new - I use mine in raised beds that i built to the same size and i use canes up the side to support runner beans which means i can grown a really large crop without risk of wind damage to the structure.

This is a really sturdy support frame and is great value for money. I had no problems assembling it even though I had to modified it in the width to suit my raised bed. Once I had completed the mods (which included reducing the length of 2 poles, recutting the 2 shaped timber boards to match the modified angle of the vertical end poles and drilling 6 new holes) I completed the assembly in less than 1 hour.

Sturdy support but difficult to put together as drilled holes in wrong places and top square pieces of wood not sawn to fit. Needs two people to assemble.

A great product at a really reasonable price. Went together ok, but will probably need a coat of preservative if it is going to live outside - especially at the cuts. Over all I’m very happy with it.

Do you have any plans to offer this with a 3' base or a flexible version as 4' is too wide for my allotment bed.
Answered by Niall

Hi Alan You can use this as a 3ft base as well however you would have to drill holes in the lower down runners Regards Niall Quickcrop
Asked By Ray Griffin
on August 22nd, 2018
Hi , Please clarify the length and width as you give 4x4 in response to a question and 5x4 on the description my beds are 4 foot wide and was hoping to use them here is it possible to modify to 4 x4 the beds run approx north south so the 4 foot width is east west . Also would these work successfully for traditional Runner beans up knitting? I have only used canes before but am hoping for a more stable structure. Ray Griffin
Answered by Andrew
on August 23rd, 2018
Hi Ray. Yes, these frames are suitable for runner beans though they may not be as tall as the cane wigwams you have been using. The width of the 'A' frame is 4ft while the other side is 5ft. You could cut the poles down to 4 foot but you would need to drill out the eds again to fit them together in the way you suggest. I am afraid we only have the 5ft version in stock and are not able to modify them in the warehouse. Andrew

Hi, Does netting/mesh come with the frame or do I have to buy it separate?

Hi John. The mesh does not come with the frame and is purchased in a separate pack.

What size of netting goes over the pea and bean support frame. I have a plant protection 4 x 2 meters mesh size 10mm x 10mm, and a garden netting 6 x 2 mesh size 15mm. would any of these do or is there is one you recommend. Hope to hear from you.
Answered by Andrew
on May 23rd, 2017
Hi May. The smaller one will do just fine. The mesh size on both of the packs of netting you have will work fine for Peas and Beans. Once the mesh is not to small Peas and Beans will be more than happy for something to trail up

Hi Marie. That information should be on the site so i will put it on now. They are 4ft wide and 4ft deep.
Asked By Jane Ferguson
on January 03rd, 2017
I am purchasing a 6x4 bed, to do square foot gardening. I am planning a row of 4 squares of peas, followed by the same of beans. Would the base of the a-frame allow for this - it looks a little wider at the bottom. I only have limited space, so i don't want to lose empty squares. Thanks!
Answered by Andrew
on January 03rd, 2017
Hi Jane. If you are using the frame on a 6x4 bed you will only be able to grow the peas and beans as the central area will be in shade once the frame is covered. I tend to grow lettuce in the middle which will crop before the peas are fully grown and will also tolerate partial shade so may continue growing depending on which way your garden faces. I hope this helps. Andrew

Can you give us some dimensions of the built frame please - height, length, width at top and bottom, size of raised beed it would fit? My beds are all 6x4ft
Answered by Andrew
on August 19th, 2016
The size of the frame is 5ft long by 3.6 wide so will fit your bed. The height is approx 5ft depending how far you push the legs into the soil. Apologies for the lack of dimensions on the product page, we will correct that today.
