Traditional Austrian Copper Soil Rake (CD4)

In a nutshell....

The copper headed soil rake is a traditional Austrian gardening tool, it has an extra long shaft and curved prongs. Copper tools are known to enrich the soil and prevent slugs.

"Rakes are handy to knock out any lumps of compost and soil, to break them up when you want to create a nice fine tilth for seed sowing. A standard short pronged version will have more uses around the garden than a longer pronged rake. The copper ‘Perseus’ rake has an extra long ash handle which I like as it means less bending while raking. Often I use it in a horizontal motion, swinging lightly across the bed surface, as shallow as possible, to knock out the lumps and make it level for sowing and planting." - Charles Dowding
