Eryngium giganteum is the ultimate addition to a wildlife garden. The flowers have a long flowering season and are attractive to a wide range of insects including honeybees, bumble bees and hoverflies. The foliage remains upright when dead and provides shelter and habitat in Winter before it is cut down in Spring.
The silvery cone shaped head and silvery white bracts give this biennial an appearance similar to sea holly. Grown as much for its texture as its colour, this tall plant has long lasting flowers which are attractive to bees and wildlife.
