One of the sturdier cultivars, Veronicastrum virginicum shows off tall spires of pale pink, almost white flowers from July until September. The elegant flowers add height to the back of a border or fits in well with prairie style grasses.
Goes well with:
Flowers - Anemone hyb. Königin Charlotte (Japanese anemone), Verbena bonariensis, Sanguisorba officinalis ‘Red Buttons’ (burnet)
Grasses - Miscanthus sinensis (Chinese silver grass)
Care of Veronicastrum virginicum ‘Pink Glow’
Plants can be divided in early Spring. Veeronicastrum like moist soil so a generous application of well rotted garden compost or manure as a mulch will help retain moisture.
Wildlife benefits
Source of pollen and nectar for bees and hoverflies, nectar source for butterflies.
