84 Cell Plant Tray For Seedling Propagation

In a nutshell....

Plant tray with 84 cells for propagating seedlings. This is the perfect size for seedlings and can be easily used with electric propagators. Available singly or in a 3 pack.

Propagation Trays For Seedlings

The 84 Cell Plant Propagation tray is the best all round plug tray size, in fact it's the one we use ourselves in our nurseries. The trays are the perfect size for most 4 week old plugs after which time they need to be planted out or potted on.These trays work great in conjunction with a propagator.

The 84 cell tray is re-useable and will last a number of years if you take notice of the following tip: The trays are quite heavy when filled with damp compost and should not be lifted by the ends causing the middle to bow. Lift your trays by the sides and they will last much longer.

For larger plants like tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers or peppers we recommend using a 6 cell plant tray.

Tray Measurements - 54cm long x 32cm wide x 7cm deep

540mm long x 320mm wide x 70mm deep.

Each cell is 40mm wide and 70mm deep.

I find that with a bit of care the trays are great and if well watered the plugs are easy lifted out with out damage to the plants or the trays

Bought a few of these and used to start vedge seed in the poly tunnel.Perfect job but did find it awkward to remove the plugs when I wanted less than a full tray, maybe me doing something wrong! Looking forward to starting bedding=g and hanging basket stuff next spring. Definite the way to go for me.

Liked this plant tray. The individual cells were a nice size for starting off seeds. I have started my leek seeds off in this, as they require a long growing season.

Good quality

Excellent service and the quality is first class. I use Jack's Magic all purpose compost when starting seedlings. The compost when handled looks great but I would advise sifting compost for seed sowing and just using the compost straight from the bag for potting up etc. The trays are excellent for starting off seedlings and I hope to get a few years use from them. They are much better quality that some that are available in large German multi nationals

The module tray is a good size and, importantly for me, rigid. I'm not keen on the flimsy tray inserts, so this is a much better fit. My only concern is how robust the plastic will turn out to be. It feels like it may only last 2-3 seasons but I may well be proved wrong. I hope so!

Do your cell/module trays have a reasonable size hole at the bottom that enables a finger to help push out the plug? This benefit greatly enhances life of trays through not having to squeeze the cell to remove the plug. Thanks in advance.

Hi Martin Yes they do but you wouldn't fit your finger through them. We have a trusty pencil in our tunnels for doing just this and we get about 7/8 uses out of each tray before disposing of them Niall Quickcrop

I’ve just bought a garland 3 tray heated propagated and want to germinate all my seeds in there. Can I use this for seeds before they have sprouted and can I put them in the heated propagated....and finally, do I need to stand them in a sunny window to get them going? Thanks

Hi Lisa, germinate the seeds in the propagator and when sprouted remove and place in a sunny spot. They don't need to be exposed to light in order to germinate. Regards.

I was looking for separate trays not a combination of trays, capillary matting plus cells. Do you sell separate trays suitable for the pack of three trays of plant plug cells?

Hi Ronald. I am afraid i am a little confused as regards what you are looking for. Can i ask you to phone the office and ask for me. We can then get you sorted with what you need. Regards Niall Quickcrop

Do you sell drip trays to sit the 84 cell plant tray in? I don’t want to buy the plug tray without having something to sit it in and provide for bottom watering

We do of course Ronald. Here is a link to it on the website. It is the same tray sitting in to a tray with a capillary mat for holding the water. https://www.quickcrop.ie/product/plantpak-84-cell-seedling-tray-2-pack Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi again, seeing as you got back so efficiently I thought I'd ask one more q, or rather point out another discrepancy. Under Description you say "You can also purchase the 84 cell plant tray in a 3 pack and save €1.85". However, the price of a single tray is E3.95, which if x by 3 would make E11.85. Given that the 3-pack costs E10.95, the multibuy saving is only E0.9. Thanks, Adam

Hi, I'm thinking of buying your 84 cell tray but am confused about its depth. Under specifications your state "540mm long x 320mm wide x 70mm deep. Each cell is 40mm wide and 28mm deep." If each cell is only 28mm deep, why is the overall tray 70mm deep? Where has the extra depth gone? 28mm isn't really deep enough, so I'm hoping that's a typo . . . Thanks!

Hi Adam. You are of course right. The trays are 5.5cm deep and the cells are obviously the same depth. I have just changed the spec on the website. Thank you for pointing this out.
