Our range of garden furniture helps bring the comfort of the indoors outside: perfect for maximising the enjoyment of any outdoor space. We've been busy adding to our range, bringing you familiar designs as well as some updates on classic products. We like our outdoor furniture to retain some - if not all - of its natural timber finish. This lends the products a timeless feel that will match any garden style or decor. These tables, chairs, benches, and other outdoor accessories are built for comfort. The timber and materials used are all top quality, and the result is longer-lasting furniture that requires less maintenance.
Outdoor living has taken on new importance in our modern world, and those of us fortunate enough to have some outdoor space have found solace and comfort there. From outdoor dining and entertaining guests to simply relaxing alone, outdoor furniture adds a whole new dimension to any home or garden. Quality furniture allows you to enjoy bouts of nice weather and soak in the tranquility of nature, while also encouraging the kids to get some fresh air.
Garden arches and arbours can add a touch of elegance and character to your garden, while also providing shade from the sun or shelter from a rain shower. An arbour is a great place to sit and read in privacy. Benches, bars, and BBQ side tables will encourage you to invite friends around and socialise or cook outdoors. Decorative arches can serve as an attractive entranceway to your garden, or frame certain areas within your garden. They can also provide support for climbing plants while at the same time complementing the surrounding foliage. Some of our products also include storage space for furniture covers, throws, cushions, etc.
Garden furniture has come a long way in the last decade. With online sales and home delivery now the norm, convenience and ease of assembly are a necessity when shopping around. We have sourced garden furniture sets that have been designed for easy assembly, meaning they have fewer components and fewer stages to complete.
Best Wood Options for Outdoor Furniture
When it comes to furniture that’s intended for the outdoors, the material that it’s crafted from is all-important. You want a piece that is going to stand up to moisture and mildew, sun exposure, rain, pests, temperature changes: all the conditions and challenges that the outdoors will test it with. There are a number of materials that are popular for garden furniture. Take into account the typical climate of where you live when choosing between materials, as different options will have different strengths and weaknesses.
Teak is very durable and water-resistant. It has a high level of natural oils which protect against mould, mildew and decay. With less suitable types of wood, moisture from rain and humidity can cause the material to swell or split. Teak however is known for its water resistance and is often used in shipbuilding. Above all else, it’s a very attractive wood with a warm character. Over time it will fade naturally to a charming silvery grey patina. Most people are happy with its weathered appearance, and a further benefit of teak wood is that you won’t have to treat or paint it after purchasing.
Another very good material for outdoor furniture is Acacia Wood. It has adapted to many different climates, and the bark contains tannins that lend it a natural ability to wick away moisture from rain and snow, considerably reducing the chances of rot or mould developing. One element that it’s less resistant towards is very hot weather - but you can provide some protection for the furniture during hot spells (e.g. a gazebo or table cloth). Acacia wood has the added benefit of being a sustainable and environmentally-friendly type of wood, due to its very fast rate of growth and its carbon sequestration abilities.
Other Suitable Garden Furniture Materials
Some other popular and durable materials for garden or patio furniture include:
PE or synthetic rattan
Powder-coated steel
Synthetic wicker
Polystone
Aluminium
Recycled Plastic
Acrylic and Polyester fabrics (for chair cushions etc)
While benches, chairs, and picnic tables all have the same construction and dimensions as shown, each length of timber retains its distinct character informed by its natural wood finish. This finish gives outdoor furniture a rustic appearance and also ensures it will fit perfectly with any outdoor space.
Sustainably Sourced Timber
Before stocking furniture, we make sure that all our suppliers meet our environmentally friendly standards, and that all timber used is FSC certified. FSC stands for the Forestry Stewardship Council. They ensure that certified manufacturers use timber from sustainable, responsibly managed forests. Our furniture suppliers follow a sustainability pledge and use only this responsibly sourced wood in their garden furniture. Timber is pressure treated to protect the wood from rot and make it last longer in an outdoor setting. Most of the wooden garden furniture we sell has a 10-year guarantee against rot.
