Mini Polytunnel complete frame kit- wood, kit and tubes.

Qty:
59.95

In a nutshell....

The mini polytunnel kit is available in 6x3 and 6x4 sizes and can either be attached to our Premier raised beds or fixed to the ground.

Frame Size

The Quickcrop mini tunnel kit is a diy kit for building a sturdy and long lasting mini polytunnel frame. Mini polytunnel frames can be covered with poly to make a mini greenhouse or covered with a insect excluding mesh to protect against pests like cabbage and carrot root fly. Mini polytunnels can be fixed to raised beds to create a compact growhouse, fixed to the ground with our peg system or used inside a full sized tunnel to create a heat retaining double glazing effect.

Our kits use pressure treated timber for the frame and thick plastic tubing to create the structure. The clever bit is our unique fixing system for attaching the frame together, securing the tubular supports and fixing the poly or mesh to the frame. You can easily build a tunnel in 30 mins which will last you for many years. These tunnels are not to be confused with inferior ready made products which will only last for 1 or 2 seasons.

The mini poly tunnel frame kit consists of the following:

Fixing Kit
4 x Right angled corner fixing brackets.
2 x Centre 'T' shaped fixing brackets.
3 x Tube fixing cross pieces.
10 x Steel Washers.
10 x Screws For Securing Steel Washers.

Timber

2 x timber: L:1.8m W:5cm H:5cm
2 x timber: L:90cm W:5cm H:5cm

Tubing
8 x 90cm support tubes

Very easy to put together and an excellent addition to the garden. Seems pretty sturdy. Only thing I didn't like is that in the complete kit, you don't get the covering included - would have been nice if there was an option to pick if you wanted mesh or polythene etc.

Hi. I've just constructed one of your mini polytunnels - really easy to put together and perfect for my beds. I'm having difficulty fitting enviromesh though. This sounds really daft but I can't seem to get it to follow the curvature of the frame - it just goes diagonally down from the rim to the wood, even if I pull the ends tight. Is there a preferred way of fitting? I started from the middle and moved to the ends, making sure that things were tight. Thanks. Is it OK to post a weblink to a photo here? Cheers, Gorwel
Answered by Andrew
on June 12th, 2020
Hi Gorwel. I find the easiest way of doing it is to fix along the timber on one side, pull it over the apex and fix along the other. The ends are then pulled together like a Christmas cracker and fixed to the gable frame. I hope this helps. Andrew

Hi Keith We do supply the mini polytunnel fittings and the piping and covers but i am afraid due to transport issues we can't ship 8ft lengths so you would have to get that locally. If you go to the mini polytunnel picker you will be able to order all you need except the 8ft wood Niall Quickcrop

Hi there, I have an 8x4 raised bed and wish to place a hooped system with mesh over it to deter bugs off brassica veg. As the bed is already in place, what is the best way to do this? I see some examples of systems that are built on pieces of timber that can then be lifted on and off as beds rotate but cant find in 8x4 size. Please can you advise me
Answered by Niall
on April 09th, 2020
Hi Elizabeth Our mini polytunnels are presently only available up to 6ft x 4ft however you could buy the parts and make the wooden frame on site yourself. The other alternative would be to use our mainframe system which will give you that size. I am afraid both are presently out of stock however we should be fully stocked again in about 2 weeks time Niall Quickcrop

Hi Dave You can order the parts for that size no problem and then cut one side of the wood down to 4ft as it it supplied as 6ft x 4ft. We don't presently do 4 x 4 as a kit. Niall. Quickcrop

Hello Quickcrop, I've laid out the timber poles to put together my mini poly tunnels but I'm not sure if the short poles should be fixed inside or outside the long ones, and can't make it out on the instructions or video. If the short poles go outside the long ones the tunnel will be slightly longer than if they go inside. I've tried lining up the 87mm plastic pipes lengthwise to gauge the required frame length but they're so bendy it's hard to see. Can you advise me? Thanks!
Answered by Niall
on March 09th, 2020
Hi Virginia They normally go on the inside of the long ones however this is really just down to the size you want the tunnel to be when finished. If you put them on the inside the tunnel will be that bit wider so really whatever works best for you is the answer. The tubing will take the shape required once you have the frame built and put the tubing in to the required position. If are still struggling with the assembly just call us in the office and we will talk you through it on the phone Niall Quickcrop

Hi Natalia The Mini Polytunnels are your best option however the longest we do them in is 2.4metres long x 1.2m wide. You can of course put 2 side by side if you want. They are very strong and are perfect for warm weather crops. If you just put Mini Polytunnel in the search bar they will come up for you Niall Quickcrop

Good evening, I bought two of your premier raised bed kits a couple of years ago and have been delighted with them, thank you. I am about to order a couple more, with the mini polytunnel frame kits, to protect crops from deer. I would prefer to use a plastic tubing with a more natural colour, maybe black or green, that would blend into the background landscape. I wondered if you might be able to provide or recommend an alternative to the blue tubes that would be compatible with the fixings in your kit please.? Many thanks

on November 18th, 2019
Morning Helen I am afraid we haven't been able to source this in black. There is a heavy duty version in black however it is not pliable enough to work with the design of corner brackets. We have had a few people spray paint them before which makes them easier to look at in the garden Niall Quickcrop

I'm looking to buy two of the wider size kits to cover two veg beds (not raised beds, ie no wooden boards) and will use pegs to hold them down. I'm wondering (a) how to pull back netting for access to hoe and weed (maybe simpler to lift off the whole frame?) and similarly (b) if it's possible to pull back netting for taller crops like brassicas or beans. Thanks
Answered by Niall
on November 08th, 2019
Hi Virginia You can leave the ends loosely tied off and then just lift up the netting for hoeing although to be honest with you if it was me i would just lift the mini polytunnels off when i wanted to hoe. It depends on how you plan on fixing the netting to the tubes but if you use cable ties you can use ones that can be undone and literally take the netting off when required. Niall Quickcrop

Answered by Niall
on November 01st, 2019
Hi Helen To be honest the poly cover is probably the best as it means you have a mini polytunnel which allows you grow a lot more throughout the year. All of the covers will protect against deer but i suppose the Poly cover will also stop them smelling the crops which they will be able to do through the Mesh or net covers Niall Quickcrop

Answered by Andrew

Hi James. I am afraid we can't shop a length longer than 6 foot due to courier restrictions. The mini tunnels can be made to any length you require if you source timber for the frame locally, all the other parts are available to order as you need them. For an 8 ft tunnel I would recommend 4 hoops which means you need 4 x corner supports, 4 x centre supports, 4 x connector pieces and 11 lengths of 120 cm tube. I hope this helps. Andrew

Hi. For the split-level raised bed, would 2 kits (1 to cover each half) be the right way to go? Thanks.
Answered by Andrew

Hi Matt. I am not sure 2 kits would work that well for this as they will be a bit cumbersome. I don't know how handy you are but if it was me I'd make a mesh frame up to bring the lower tier to the same height as the top one. We could supply you timber and mesh to do this. You can then build one 4x6 tunnel to sit on the top. I hope this helps. Feel free to call on 01788 298 795 if I can be of any more help. Andrew

Hi guys, I too have the standard allotment 6x3 beds and note the cover fits with a small overhang. Wanted to check thought that the overhang would'nt leave a space between the cover and the bed as my crops were devastated by cabbage root fly last year and don't want to leave any space for them the get in at all this year! Thanks
Answered by Andrew
on January 11th, 2016
Hi Claire. The mini tunnel frame kit consists of plastic brackets, hoops and a wooden frame. The wooden frame is easily cut to fit any size bed, you can make it up using the right angled corner brackets in 5 mins and test for fit, if there is an overhang you can cut a small piece off 2 of the battens to get an exact fit. I hope this helps, sorry to hear you had so much trouble with cabbage root fly last year. Andrew
