Build Your Own Mini Polytunnel (Parts Picker)

Primarily, to save initial cost (absolutely no reflection on other parts sold by this company, I simply had to economise), I used 3 X 2" wooden base rails (2.5m) and drilled through each rail at five opposing points with 25mm wood bit.... Secured mitred corners together with both large angle brackets and flat "L" brackets under each base corner..... Wooden cross brace rail screwed half way along each frame base.... 25mm blue pipe cut to 42" for each side of each hoop (our own personal choice of length), both lengths of blue pipe joined using the excellent cross joint connectors (as supplied by this company). These connectors, which have been outlined in previous reviews on this site as being too large to fit 25mm blue pipe, they were tight certainly but once inserted with the help of a little silicon spray and strong hand pressure (I did revert to slights taps with a rubber mallet twice!) they were pressed home and display a very firm hold (impressed!) Once connected, the ends of both pipes were inserted into the previously mentioned, opposing 25mm, rail holes. Each pipe joint can be further strengthened by fixing a small screw through the pipe into the connector, likewise at the wooden base, a screw through both the rail and pipe at each point.... Hoops further joined/jointed together at the apex/crown of each arch with shorter lengths of pipe to complete a firm structure..... Netting stretched under slight tension and held with screwed in full length wooden battens along each upper edge of the rail and base ends. Wood treated after drilling holes.... Each section will be overwintered each year, under cover in a dry shed. K.J.C. Scotland
