The Whitecurrant is the sweetest variety among its red and black brethren. They grow similarly to the red and black variety and will tolerate shade but it is recommended that you plant them to full sun for quicker ripening and juicer berries. Fruits are are produced on long heavy trusses, are pale yellow in colour have a fresh and sweet flavour. An early fruiting variety ready for picking in mid July.
The Whitecurrant bush produces slightly larger berries that have the same tart taste as redcurrants but are far sweeter and are the main ingredient in Bar-le-duc jelly a French jelly primarily served with game.
