Description
This straight replacement handle fits standard sledge hammer heads. Made from smooth, solid hickory, it is designed for comfort and is splinter free. Hickory is known for its shock resistance and strength ensuring a long life. Carefully chosen so the grain follows the length of the handle to minimize any weak points. It is durable and holds up well to wear and abrasion.
Straight handle vs. Tapered handles for sledge hammers
Straight Handle
- Lets you move your hand up and down more easily which is great if you need more precision or leverage
- Allows you to use both sides of the head without adjusting your grip
- Generally less tiring for prolonged use
- More likely to slip out of your hands
- Less suitable to beginners as you have a less natural grip
Tapered Handle
- Tapered is the traditional shape handle for most striking tools (axe, pickaxe, sledge, ect.)
- Offers a better grip and less likely to slip when swinging
- Offers better control and accuracy with a natural stopping point
- Can be more tiring to use for long periods
- Not ideal if you change grip positions regularly
While this is a straight handle we also sell a tapered replacement handle.
