Sizes
Please see the table below for sizes and spec of Phoenix greenhouses. All Phoenix models have an Eaves Height of 11.57m (4’11”) and a Ridge Height of 2.52m (7’7″).
Vitavia’s premium low threshold greenhouse is available in 4 sizes, each 2.57m (8’5”) wide with double doors.
The Phoenix low threshold greenhouse has an impressive eaves’ height of 1.57m (5’15”) offering increased headroom and working space, ridge height is 2.52m (8’3”). The Low Threshold entrance provides easy access for wheelchairs and wheelbarrows. Standard gutters are fitted, along with 2 - 4 roof vents depending on size. Additional strength is achieved by corner plates and braces throughout the building.
The complete Vitavia range is available in Powder Coated Black, Powder Coated Green or *Anodised Aluminium (*Anodisation is a process the aluminum goes through to keep it looking pristine throughout its life). Certain model sizes are also available in powder coated black.
Does the Phoenix greenhouse need a base?
No, the Phoenix greenhouse features an integrated base as standard. If required a DIY timber or masonry base may be constructed but this is not a requirement of the design.
Phoenix Assembly Service
We provide an assembly service if required. Our Vitavia greenhouse expert will deliver and assemble your new greenhouse in a suitable location in your garden. Assembly prices may vary depending on the site (see table below). Hard Surface assumes the site is prepared and ready for construction, while On Soil applies to sites that require preparation or modification by our assembler before building your greenhouse. What glass type is right for me?
We offer three types of glass with this greenhouse. Each type has it's own advantages.
Horticultural glass
Horticultural glass or greenhouse glass has traditionally been relatively low grade both in thickness and the overall quality of the panes. This does not make it a bad product because we don't necessarily need high quality glass for horticultural applications, it still provides protection and lets in plenty of light which, after all, is all we need it for. The downside from a safety point of view is that it is more brittle and shatters into shards when broken. In my opinion, horticultural glass is perfectly fine for a reasonably sheltered glasshouse in a suburban setting but should not be used in exposed areas or where young children are regularly playing.
Toughened glass
Toughened or safety glass is more costly than horticultural grade but is 10 times stronger and, when broken, shatters into very small pieces in the same manner as a car window. We would recommend that toughened glass is used in any exposed location and where safety is a concern.
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable and offers better insulation than toughened glass. Its UV coating helps protect plants from sun damage while ensuring durability in exposed areas. Unlike glass, it won’t shatter if dislodged by high winds, making it a safer choice, especially for households with children. However, it allows slightly less light in than glass and is more prone to weathering and scratches over time.
Lead time
Please be aware that there is currently an 8 week lead time on all glasshouses due to high demand. This will be the same for any Vitavia greenhouse supplier in Ireland.
