Sedum Pachyphyllum or ‘Jelly Bean Plant’ is a silver-green succulent with short and thick club shaped leaves and woody stems.
The Jelly Bean Plant is so called because it’s fleshy leaves look like juicy jelly beans! Leaves are a waxy blue/green but will flush with pink at the leaf tips if grown in bright sunlight. Plants are compact and will grow up to 30cm tall, they can be easily pruned back if they become unruly. Pruning can be re-planted and will produce new plants.
The Jelly Bean Plant produces yellow, star shaped flowers held on 30 cm stems.
Like most succulents, sedum pachyphyllum is easy to propagate from cuttings. Take cuttings in spring or summer, let the cutting dry out and form a callous on the cut before planting in damp free draining sandy compost in a small pot.
