White Willow is an attractive, large tree that is fast growing which grows well on most sites. White willow is particularly useful as a shelterbelt tree in exposed locations and in riverside locations where it helps stabilise banks and reduce erosion.
The White Willow is a valuable native wildlife habitat and is a good source of fast growing timber for woodwork or firewood. The willow is a particularly good insect habitat and therefore supports insect eating birds like the willow warbler.
