Gro grid Landscaping Fabric Planting Mats

Gro Grid mats are the natural way to keep on top of weeds in your vegetable garden. The mats are made from a semi permeable weed control fabric with heat sealed planting holes for growing a variety of crops. The mats come in a range of sizes with different size and distance planting holes to suit the plants you wish to grow. The gro grid helps warm the ground in the spring, prevents weeds growing around your plants and protects your garden soil from leaching in wet weather.

Space between plants: 18cm.
Space between rows: 18cm.
Small Gro Grid Mat: 1.5m x 2m. Will fit 77 Plants
Medium Gro Grid Mat: 1.5m x 4m. Will fit 161 Plants

Large Gro Grid Mat: 1.5m x 16m. Will fit 665 plants

Suitable for:
Onions, Peas, Tarragon, Radishes, Carrots, Herbs, Lettuce, Spinach, Beans, Oriental Leaves, Basil and more.

Use:
We recommend feeding your soil with organic matter before putting down your Gro Grid mat as the cover won't be removed until you have harvested your crop.

Simply place the mat on your prepared ground and fix using ground fabric staples. Ensure the Gro Grid mat is a tight fit as any loose ends can be caught by the wind.

The Gro Grid is a long lasting product and can be used for up to 5 years if folded and stored for future use.

Dimensions:

Small Gro Grid Mat: 1.5m x 2m.

Medium Gro Grid Mat: 1.5m x 4m.

Large GrowGrid Mat: 1.5m x 16m.

Arrived in super quick time. Easy to lay down and plant into just level the area and roll it out. Quality of product seems very good. Could do with a few more anchors as I live in a windy area but overcame that easy. Overall a great idea and I will be ordering more if it lives up to half the expectations.

I bought two large sheets of earlier this year in conjunction with 10 sacks of Envirogrind as my soil is pretty poor. In the last few years I have been pleased to get a couple of dozen onions. This year I have Well ove a hundred and three or four times as many shallots and the size is amazing with onions approaching the size of my clenched fist! Taking up about a quarter of my plot I never had to weed once - now that's amazing.... I'll be investing in a couple of additional sheets in the spring too - I just want it everywhere!

I used grid mat A last year on my allotment and I was overjoyed when everyone else was weeding I was enjoying a glass of wine in the sunshine. Took them up after cropping and not a weed in sight. I’m now buying every mat to use this year. Frays slightly at the edges but very impressive. I’ve been recommending them to my allotment buddies.

Laying down the mat was simple, had to use extra fixings due to the high winds. Only time will tell if it's up to the job.

Brilliant for saving labour time on weeding is the main thing and the reason we bought it. My wife will be buying more of it for growing carrots in the very near future. Sorting home saved carrot seed today.

I used the Grow Grid D last year for onions and had a superb crop. I used the same one for overwintered garlic which is now flourishing very well. I am so pleased that I have bought several more of this type for this years onions and I intend to try with cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower this year too. Really helps when you have a busy work and home life and still want to keep your garden in ship-shape condition and get wonderfully healthy plants.

Hi Shashi The 14.95 price is for the Grow Grid D which we are presently out of stock of. So when you go in to the product it is the Medium that you are seeing (4m long) which is 24.95. I am afraid it will be about 3 weeks before we have the small back in stock Niall Quickcrop

About spacing - the onion spacing you suggest on your site is 10cms apart with 25cms between rows, yes? But the onion mat spacing is 18cs apart each way - or am I getting this ALL wWRONG?
Answered by Niall
on January 19th, 2021
Hi Killian Yes you are right but the actual diameter around each plant is almost the same so enough air can get through to stop disease. The spacing on the mats is actually probably the better option Niall Quickcrop

Hi, I would love to know whether you think the growgrid mats would be suitable in my cut flower patch? Obviously keen on anything that will reduce weeding!! 🤣 Thanks for any advice,
Answered by Niall
on February 20th, 2020
Hi Lisa The Grow Grids are particularly good with vegetables or flowers that don't cover the ground and hence allow weed seeds to grow and come on. So in short yes they will work very well with cut flower and we have had quite a few people use them for just that Niall Quickcrop

Answered by Andrew
on November 29th, 2019
Hi Neil. Provided the ground is fertile ( I would add a thick layer of compost before planting) the yield won't be effected. Tje Gro-Grid I would recommend is mat A: https://www.quickcrop.co.uk/product/grow-grid-planting-mats-a I hope this helps Andrew

We have never had any issues with this. The Grow Grids are coated to stop any leaching in to the soil so i can't see this being an issue. As i said i use them for most of my garden and i grow as organically as possible. Regards Niall Quickcrop

How do you keep the edges down?!
Answered by Niall
on February 23rd, 2018
Hi Jane. They come with pegs but to be honest you would be better using some of the ground staples that we sell. They are fantastic for holding down mypex and Grow Grids. Just put the word Staple in the search bar and you will see the item i am talking about.
Asked By Alan
on September 07th, 2017
I assume the mats can be cut to size fairly successfully?
Answered by Andrew
on September 08th, 2017
Hi Alan. You can cut the growgrid mats but I am not sure this is something I would advise. The key to the longevity of the mats (I have been using the same one for 5 years now and can't see why it won't be good for another 5) is the holes and the edges are heat sealed. The fabric itself is a weave so if it is cut it will start to fray. I f you had to cut I would fold 2-3 cm over to create a hem and staple along the edge to keep it tidy. I hope this helps. Andrew

Thanks for your answer to my last question. I will certainly be ordering one or 2 mats. We havee just erected a polytunnel and I am on a steep leaning curve. Hi Linda. Yes, the Growgrid works just as well in a tunnel as it does outside. In fact it will help reduce watering as soil evaporation is reduced in hot weather. I hope this helps. Andrew

What about slugs? Won't this product encourage them?
Answered by Andrew
on September 22nd, 2015
Hi Paola I haven't noticed any significant increase in slug populations when using these mats though I do take your point. I guess you need to weigh up the two, I know with my busy work life that I find the greatly reduced weeding a real blessing and have not been too bothered by slugs. I use the mat 'D' a lot of onions and garlic which aren't really bothered by slugs anyway and genuinely find them excellent (the mats, not the slugs!). I hope this answers your question. Andrew
Asked By Jim dunne

Is it possible to buy these mats in lengths bigger than standard, like 5 or 6 mars long to fit standard 16"long raised beds. Why are they only 12"long when gardeners often have longer raised beds?
Answered by Andrew
on September 18th, 2015
Hi Jim. It's a fair question but 2 and 4m are the only sizes we can get from the manufacturer. You could use a 2m and 4m mat to achieve the 6 you are looking for. I hope this helps. Andrew
