I have used these mats for a number of years now on my allotment and I won’t do without them. Weeding is almost non existent. I have a few that try their luck but new succeed. The only drawback, which is minor is that with the leafy plants it can be hard to find the hole to direct water. I solved this this year by planting a stick in the hole at the same time So I just water the stick.

They will a little but it is very good Mypex fabric we use so the amount of fraying is minimum. I have cut a number of them myself and little or no fraying Niall Quickcrop

Can you supply any of the mats 1m rather than 1.5m wide? Thanks Roisin

I am afraid not. We don't manufacture them and i know that the machine that the manufacturer has designed to make them is only set to take 1.5m. Sorry i can't be of more help on this Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi! I have purchased some Grow Grids from you. Someone told me that covering the soil during a whole growing season can kill some of the important microorganisms and bacteria in the soil particularly during hot weather. Is this true, and if so, how should I prevent this? I live in Sweden, so we don’t have extremely hot weather. Also does this ground cover increase slug problems? We do have quite a few slugs over here. Thanks for your advice

Hi Beverley The microorganisms are affected if you have a cover on the soil that doesn't let the water through but once moisture gets through as it does with the grow grids there is no issue. I use the Grow Grids in my garden as well and i haven't had any noticeable increase in slugs so i think they are fine for that Regards Niall Quickcrop

What is the best way of watering crops using Grow Grid? I am planning drip irrigation.
Answered by Niall
on March 19th, 2018
Good morning Beverley The Mypex material used for the Grow Grids will allow water pass down through it so you can set your drippers at normal intervals for keeping the soil moist. Regards Niall Quickcrop
