Oriental Salad, Pak Choi 'Joi Choi F1'

In a nutshell....

This is the most popular Pak Choi available because of its taste and large bright white stems and dark green leaves.

The most popular and reliable Pak Choi with succulent bright white stems and dark green leaves. Excellent taste. Oriental brassicas are excellent from late summer on-wards right through the winter if grown under protection.

I have used a whole package of this pak choi last year. I had it outside in the raised beds where it done ok, seeing as my pest control has some finetuning coming it's way, it wasn't the pak choi's fault it was ravaged by flea beetles, eaten by slugs and marauding chickens. where it really came into itself was in the tunnel over winter. i did an august sowing and we are eating from it all winter long. it is absolutely fabulous cut up as a salad. take the leaves in a cut- and- come again fashion and it just keeps on going. I highly recommend it for vigour! I also love the taste- fresh, crisp and mild easily spiced up whichever way you rating, just bought a new packet!

How to plant pak choi
Answered by Niall

Hi Oscar If you are sowing from seed you just need to create a seed bed with very loose seed compost and place the seeds in the seed bed or tray about 1/2mm below the surface. If you are planting out plugs or seedling plants then create a small hole in the soil and plant the plug plant up to the base of the plug and firm around the soil. The same as you would with any salad plants. If still unsure we have plenty of Videos on our YouTube channel for viewing Regards Niall Quickcrop

I planted Pak Choi and it is blooming a yellow flower. Do I have to cut the flower for the Pak Choi to grow?

Hi Joan. Once the flowers are produced the plant thinks it has done its job and will stop growing. If you see shoots coming out of the centre of the plant it means it is running to seed to produce flowers. If you cut these shoots out before they flower the plant will keep growing.
