Description
Both Bupleurum griffithii and Ammi majus can be used solo but are more gernerally arranged as filler plants for stunning cut flower displays. Both plants are tall and may need staking for support in windy gardens.
Bupleurum or Hare's ear produces characteristic lime green flowers on tall stems bearing eucalyptus like leaves. The citrus yellow/green hues make an excellent contrast with almost any other colour flower but look particularly good with soft pinks, purples, whites and apricots. This versatile plant has the ability to transform any bunch of flowers into a professional looking arrangement.
Plant seedlings 20-30 cm apart in fertile, well drained soil in full sun.
Ammi Majus or false Queen Anne's lace is another very popular filler plant that offers a light and airy foil for more attention grabbing blooms. Arranging cut flowers is all about balance in shape, colour size and texture. Fillers like Ammi give a light and open feel to displays that may otherwise be too dense and tigtly packed.
Plant seedlings 20-30 cm apart in moderately fertile soil in full sun.
