This plant is one of Piet Oudolf’s favourites and features masses of tight, carmine burrs displayed on wiry stems creating a haze of colour that floats above other plants. Perfect for prairie style planting schemes where it contrasts beautifully with airy grasses which can be viewed through it’s almost transparent stems.

Flowers - Anemone hupehensis Andrea Atkinson (windflower), Cirsium rivulare ‘Atropurpureum’ (plume thistle), Helenium (autumn daisy).
Grasses - Panicum virgatum ‘Shenandoah’ (switch grass).

Clumps can be divided and re-planted in Spring or Autumn.
