This is an ideal little starter raised bed kit for growing herbs and salad. It's designed to be an affordable starter bed if you want to give 'grow your own' a try for very little expense.
The 17.5 cm high Allotment Raised Bed is best placed on prepared soil for larger plants, but it can also be used on a hard surface for growing shallow-rooted salads.
Just because we call these 'Starter Raised Beds' or 'Beds for Beginner Gardeners' does not mean they are limited to the novice vegetable gardener. These beds are the perfect size for greenhouses and polytunnels, and allow a more efficient use of space than rows or grow bags or various sized vegetable planters.
Square raised bed kits add a pleasing aesthetic 'neatness' to the garden; a long row of these raised beds looks very professional in the garden or tunnel.
The Allotment Raised Bed kit is 120 cm squared and comes in a flatpack kit with all the screws and instructions necessary for construction.
If you wish to grow deep root crops like carrots, parsnips or potatoes we recommend the 35 cm high bed. It is the perfect size for any garden as well as for greenhouses, allotments and polytunnels.
As mentioned above this is a great raised bed for school gardens or for the beginner gardener: it can be assembled in minutes and can be placed anywhere. Two or more of these beds can be screwed together to create even bigger growing environments.
