4ft Long Cascade Planter With Water Blade

Qty:
169

In a nutshell....

Our cascade planter with water blade is an addition to our raised ponds and features a decorative planter, liner, stainless steel water blade and connecting hose. The planter is fixed on top of our raised pond kits to create beautiful water blade cascade.

This product is currently out of stock

A 4ft (120cm) by 2ft (60cm) planter and water blade which fits the Quickcrop range of raised garden ponds. The planter kit also includes a stainless steel 250mm wide water blade which produces a clean cascade of water into the pond below. The kit comes complete with planter unit, water blade, planter liner and 25mm tubing which is easily connected to the pond pump.

Pond Pump
We recommend the Laguna Powerclear 35000 pump for use with this water feature. The blade cascade unit requires a flow rate of at least 2,500 litres per hour to produce a clean cascade of water which makes the Powerclear ideal. We have been seriously impressed with the Laguna pumps during testing for their build quality, very easy maintenance and powerful flow rates.

Size
Please note the planter in the photo is the longer 6ft version. The 4ft model is shorter (obviously) but features the same size water blade as featured.

Specifications

4ft (120cm) x 2ft (60cm) Planter with base.

Mypex liner to suit.

2m 25mm strengthened pond tubing.

250mm wide stainless steel water blade and reservoir.

Have now constructed a 4ft cascade planter with water blade. Having already made a 6ft x 4ft pond this went together very easily. Connected the pump to the cascade, filled the planter with compost and plants, and started the cascade. Unfortunately I had screwed the base of the planter central to the planter which meant that the base protruded under the cascade by about 1 1/2" so when the water fell from the cascade it didn't clear the base. I checked the picture on the web site and then saw that the base had been fixed flush with the front of the planter. I think this could be stressed more in the instructions. To avoid removing the plants and dismantling the planter I cut the protruding base underneath the cascade back flush with the front of the planter. I then found that the blade of the cascade did not seen long enough and the water was still hitting the front of the planter. This I overcame by inserting a metal strip the width of the cascade and which protruded by an extra 1&

Great piece of kit, the steel waterfall blade can be hidden in your plants. A good flow of water, filled my pond in 20 minutes

Could the cascade be fed from the outlet of a pressure filter? Or would it need to be fed separately?
Answered by Niall

Hi Janet It would depend on the outlet size of the filter. If you want to email us directly on quickcrop@gmail.com instead of this platform Niall Quickcrop

Is the planter to be used for water plants only?
Answered by Niall
on August 10th, 2018
Not at all John. The planter should be filled with soil and planted up like a normal planter. The piping just runs through it in to the Cascade but the planter itself can be filled with soil Regards Niall Quickcrop

Is there a solar powered pump and battery to run the cascade?
Answered by Andrew
on May 31st, 2018
Hi William. I am afraid we don't stock a solar pump to drive the cascade. I am not aware of any powerful enough as the blade needs a min of 3500 lph to achieve a clean cascade of water.

Can you keep fish in this pond?
Answered by Niall
on May 25th, 2018
Hi Wendy Not in the Cascade planter as this is mainly a plant planter that you run the water blade waterfall through. The main ponds are for fish and we do smaller ones of these Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi Dave It will indeed work fine. You might need one or two jubile clips to make it stay in place but should be easy enough to fix to the 9000 pump Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi thanks for your reply could you plz tell me if i could attatch my pond pump to the blade so the water is continualy flowing to oxygenate the water many thanks neil.
Answered by Andrew
on August 28th, 2017
You can of course. That is the purpose of the Cascade. If you get the Cascade it comes with the piping to connect your pump to the metal cascade allowing you to do what you asked.
Asked By Neil

Hi is this like a pond filter and do you put gravel in it or pond plants in baskets or both many thanks neil.
Answered by Andrew
on August 28th, 2017
Hi Neil. The cascade planter is not a filter as the water for the cascade is piped directly to the stainless steel water blade. We are currently working on a tank design where the cascade planter is watertight and able to be used as a live bio filter as you describe. I hope this makes sense. Andrew

Could this sit directly adjacent to the raised bed pond on a wall of equal height, rather than directly over the raised bed pond?
Answered by Andrew
on August 14th, 2017
It could of course as it comes with a base as part of it. You would just need to be sure whatever you are sitting it on is wide enough to carry it.

Can this be used as a vegetable filter without the water blade (I.e. Water flows back into the pond through a pipe)?
Answered by Andrew
on August 11th, 2017
I am afraid the cascade can't be used as a vegetable filter in it's current form. We are working on a plastic insert which would allow you to do this but this won't be in production until the 2018 season.

Hi Peter. I am afraid not but it is a slot together system which makes it very simple to assemble without any fixings or tools required.
