Baccara automatic water timer

In a nutshell....

Are you fed up with water timers that leak into the battery compartment and have a life of less than a year? So are we. This is why we offer the professional Baccara G75 Irrigation Controller. Read more below to find out why this timer is well worth the money.

Domestic water timers suffer from a common problem where the valve eventually leaks into the control box and ruins the timer. We have had so many issues with market leader domestic brands that we now only stock the professional units we use ourselves.

The Baccara irrigation controllers are expensive compared to their domestic cousins but they are a pro quality unit designed to give many years of trouble free use. Apart from the professional build quality the big difference with these controllers is the pump control unit is separate from the valve unit. The control box can be mounted on the valve, to the pipework above or below it or on to wall but crucially no water runs through the control box. Of course this means a leaking valve can never damage the control box. It is also worth pointing out that the valve and solenoid are also professional quality units so a much more robust setup than a domestic version.

The unit uses a 9 volt battery with a temporary backup power supply if the battery runs low. The unit only needs to attached to your irrigation system and does not need a mains power supply.

The Baccara timer has three different irrigation modes allowing up to 3 timed watering sessions per day. The operating modes are as follows:

P1 - Watering once every day at a set time.
P2 - Watering once on selected days (e.g. one watering session on Mon, Weds and Fri).
P3 - Watering 3 times a day on selected days (e.g. three watering sessions on Mon, Weds and Fri).

For all three modes you choose the start and end time of the watering cycle.

Hi, Appreciate that you are under pressure, but I am very disappointed with this piece of equipment. Purchased it last year and was delighted with its performance. However, this year it has given a lot of problems. The screen froze, and despite changing battery etc it would not "un-freeze". After about 3 weeks it randomly started to work for a while. However, now the timer unit seems to be ok, but the valve itself doesn't close (i.e the unit sends the signal to the valve, but it doesn't fully close). I now have to turn on / off the supply at the tap when I need to water - not so much a problem during lockdown, but will be an issue when I return to work, go on holidays etc. An expensive piece of kit, worth it when working properly, but very frustrating when it doesn't work. Any advice as to what I can do with it?

Hi Shaun. I am sorry to hear this unit is not working for you, I am surprised as they rarely give trouble, especially 2 separate issues. I will check one here but I expect the unit can be re-set if the screen freezes but, like I said, I have not seen this issues before. The valve may stick if water from a water butt is used without a filter, I am not sure if this is the case here. Either way I am keen to solve the problem and will email you directly as it will be easier to sort out.

Hi. I have had this timer in place all last year, very pleased with it. However the screen is now "frozen" and no buttons seem to work. Is it possible to do a factory reset or something? Thanks Shaun

Hi Shaun We are totally up the wall at the moment and the Baccara factory in Italy is closed so i can't even get on to them to check how to do this. I might have to ask you to come back to me on this once we are through all of this madness. Alternatively that information may be available on Google Niall Quickcrop

Hi. Can this be used with a rain or moisture sensor so that it only waters during dry periods? - I am looking for a solution for an outdoor bed. Thanks.

Hi Andrew I am afraid the Baccara unit has various timed options but is not designed to be linked to a moisture sensor. You may be able to source an 'on/off' valve controlled by a sensor which could be placed before the timer but this is not something we stock I am afraid.

Please can you tell me if this can be fitted to use water from a rain butt? Or does it have to be on main supply? Many thanks.
Answered by Andrew
on March 02nd, 2018
Hi Sheena. You can use this timer with a water but but if the head height of the butt is low and therefore water pressure low you may need to use a pump.

What size pipe fits with this controller, ie will your 16mm irrigation pipe fit or do you have a coupling if of a different diameter
Answered by Andrew

Hi Noel The valve has a 3/4 inch female thread both ends but we supply 3/4 to 16mm fitting to join your irrigation system. We can also supply whatever you need to connect to your garden water supply.
