Very Productive Gooseberry Bushes
Black Velvet is a mid season vigorous variety of gooseberry with a spreading habit. The berries are a dark red/plum colour with a pleasant mix of sweet and tart when ripe. Yields are high of small to medium sized fruits, if you prefer larger fruits thin out half the crop when unripe and use for cooking.

Black Velvet Gooseberries contain high levels of Vitamin C as well as some Vitamin B6. They are a high source of dietary fibre that helps improve gastrointestinal health. Rich in Antioxidants they have been used to help lower cholesterol. Gooseberries are also a source of Calcium, Iron and Potassium, which is good for lowering high blood pressure.
