Raised Beds For Vegetable Gardening

These raised beds are called easy to assemble beds because they require absolutely no tools or fixings whatsoever in their assembly. It can all be done by hand using the specially machined tongue and groove system with unique lock cut at the corners. The timber we use for these beds is high quality extra thick 1.25 inch boards, this ensures the raised bed is both long lasting and very strong. While they are very easy to put together, the boards lock together tightly, making it quite a bit harder to disassemble. The 6ft x 6ft raised garden kits are the biggest in the easy assemble range and are great for growing a wide range of fruit and vegetable crops. With this bed, there is ample space to grow plenty of food for all the family.

All the timber used in our easy assemble range of raised garden beds is treated so it lasts longer. The treatment used is the same as on all our raised beds and is certified by the soil association as safe to use with organic food crops. Even though it is treated, the timber retains it's natural look finish and will very easily fit in with any garden design type. These raised beds are perfect for any garden, polytunnel, allotment or back yard. Click for more info on raised beds.

We have our timber pressure treated after it is cut to our requirements at the local sawmill. This means that after the boards have been cut to size and shaped to the tongue and groove system, we treat them so that none of the timber remains untreated. A lot of other raised bed manufacturers treat their wood and then cut in an effort to save time and costs. This leads to untreated ends on the timber that suck up moisture and become prone to rot and warp.

Choose Your Size:
Different crops require different depths of soil and extra boards can be added to build your raised garden bed higher if required. We stock these raised beds in 3 different heights: 11in, 16.5in and 22 inches high. Please use the 'Height' selector tab above the 'Add To Cart' button to choose the required one.

Hi, first time gardener, plan to put on lawn. Is the 11in sufficient depth for carrots, potatoes? Do you supply the soil for the bed? If so, how much do you recommend for the 11in bed. Thank you.

Hi Philomena To grow carrots and potatoes you would be better looking at the 14 inch beds in our Premier range. In that depth of soil you can grow any crop you want. A 6ft x 3ft bed 14 inches deep takes 800 litres of soil. We do tonne bags of soil that carry this exact amount. Go to soil on the site. Niall Quickcrop

Could you tell me how much soil would be needed for 6x6 with 22 inch height please?
Answered by Niall

Hi Paula 1,700 litres to fill this bed which is actually 2 of the tonne bags which are 850 litres each. You don't actually need to fill from top to bottom with good topsoil. Only the top 10 inches needs to be a good quality soil so you can use some gravel in the base to reduce the amount of soil needed or use lower grade soil in the base Regards Niall Quickcrop

Can you tell me the internal measurement please
Answered by Andrew

Hi Denise. The edges of the bed where it locks together measure 12cm. The entire length is 180cm there for the internal dimensions are 156cm x 156cm which is 5ft 2 inches square.

Question re: 6 X 6 raised bed. Is the inside dimension 6 ft by 6 ft or are the boards 6 feet long? I need to know because of the space I have in mind, which is 74".

Hi Ira. The measurements are the board sizes not the internal dimensions

Can you put this directly on Grass? What soil you recommend? We're doing spuds, lettuce, carrots & spring onions. Thanks Eva

Is 6ft by 6ft the interior measurement of the bed when assembled or the full length of the planks?
Answered by Andrew

Hi Cathy. The measurements of the 6ft by 6ft easy assemble raised bed are the length of the planks rather than the growing area. The growing space is 5 foot 1 inch by 5 foot 1 inch.
