Wooden Garden Planters

Kingham planters are top quality large garden planters made from thick timber. They are designed and weatherproofed for outdoor use and will perfectly suit any garden, patio or walkway and look especially well beside the front or back door. Use them to display decorative plants, shrubs and small trees or simply use them to grow your own herbs. These planters are ideal for use in container gardening and you can grow a wide variety or produce in them. The thick timber used in the construction of the kingham planters makes them quite heavy and prevents them from blowing over. They also make a lovely garden gift.

We stock these planters in both small and large  sizes, so please choose the required size using the Size Tab above.

Large: 60cm wide x 60cm high

I needed a large planter that wasn't terracotta and anything else I found were all a bit sub standard. These are perfect , got two for my wisteria, big enough for the roots I think and they do look ever so smart.Lucky someone delivered them as they are BIG!

These are a good sturdy planter and have held up well in the weather. Look great outside the house and were easy to fill and put a few flowers into.

Hi on a similar note would the planter be suitable for a climbing plant such as a jasmine or would a wider container be required to support the root system? Thanks

Hi Deirdre The larger version of the Kingham planters are big enough to take quite a large root ball so i would say yes it is fine for a Jasmine plant Niall Quickcrop

Hello, would the large kingham planter be suitable for a 3 foot high magnolia, please? Thanks

Hi Rose I am afraid Magnolias root system grow horizontally almost on the soil surface instead of down vertically. As a result they are not really suited to pots of any size. Sorry about this Niall Quickcrop

Sorry if this is a stupid question! When you say that they're weatherproofed for outdoor use - does this mean that they;d have to be sanded down etc before painting them or could I paint straight onto them as they are?

Hi Eimhin. You can paint on to the planters straight away, they are well finished and smooth enough to apply paint or stain. I hope this helps. Andrew

Would they be ok for vegetables? How do they drain? Do they come assembled? Would one of your large bags of soil fill 3?
Answered by Andrew
on March 17th, 2016
Hi peter, these are perfect for vegetables, the timber base is slatted to allow drainage. Use a liner before adding soil to keep it all in and you can cut small holes at the bottom for excess water. One of the large bags of soil would definitely fill 3 of these.
