NEW Split Level Raised Vegetable Garden Kit

The 'Premier' Split Level raised vegetable bed is one of our most substantial and attractive looking large wooden planters. The raised bed is built on 2 levels, a 14 inch high section and a 22 inch high section  meaning you can grow everything in the is bed, the deepest root crops. The Split Level bed looks fantastic built against a garden fence where the 2 tiers make a very attractive display and can be planted with crops from the higher tier tumbling down to the lower section.

Our Split level planter is an ideal bed for use in square foot gardening with each tier dividing exactly into 12 square foot sections each. the large amount of soil in the bed allows for deep plant roots meaning you can plant at close spacings and harvest a huge amount of vegetables from this raised bed. Simply divide the bed into square foot sections using garden twine and galvanized nails as shown in our video and try one of the most popular planting techniques for raised bed gardens. Click for more info on raised beds.

Remember, our planter boxes aren't just for growing vegetables, they can also be used as flower beds where the split level design looks particularly well.

Remember Quickcrop are always happy to help you get started with advice on varieties, free videos and fact sheets and can even send you young seedling plants to get you growing with a minimum of fuss.

This is a beautiful product. I have bought a number of beds from this company but this is the one that looks the best by far. Can't fault them in any way. Wish all online sellers were like this one

Cheap delivery and the same quality timber I have come to expect from quickcrop. This is a classy 2 level raised bed and I prefer it to the one with the bench that I have seen on here. Very snappy delivery and well packaged with some free sweets. Happy Customer.

With my children growing up and no longer playing in their old Wendy house, I found myself with a vacant part of the garden to fill. I have always fancied growing my own veg, but the size and shape of my garden means it doesn't lend itself well. This raised bed has solved that. I built it about 3 months ago and now have a variety of veg and salad crops thriving away. It was easy to build, and probably took an hour or so. I would recommend using a power screw driver though! Very solid construction which should last for years. Takes quite a lot of soil to fill - somewhere around 1.2 tonnes by my reckoning! At least you only have to fill it once. All in all, very pleased with my purchase.

My dad has a large garden with veg plot at the bottem, so from a chiled I was use to going down the garden & picking what I want for tea. After buying/moving into my own place I had a very baron gardon, but wanted to grow my own veg/tea, so I bought 2 of these & a square 4ft x 4ft bed. Brilliant!!! Quick delivery & quite easy to put together (& I'm novice DIYer) Some of the planks where slightly warped (like some of the other reviews say) but I like that - ads to the rustics look I like. With all the rain & then sunny weather we've had my veg have grown like mad, can't wait for the produce (won't let me upload pictures on here?)

this is such a great idea, raised area in the higher bed to grow carrots which haven't been a success for me but this year I have loads of happy straight carrots.

I actually won this from the Quikcrop Review competition and it is easily the best thing I've ever won. As my polytunnel and small outside plot were already fitted out with beds from Quickcrop this went into our garden as an accessible flower bed to be tended by my wife who uses a wheelchair. It looks good, is well build and has already given my wife some real pleasure. Thank you very much guys.

Is there a lower version of this (losing the lowest plank perhaps)? Ideally, I'd also like one less deep back to front, say 18" each level, rather than 2')

Hi David I am afraid this is the only way we sell this bed at the moment however you can make up a bed to whatever way you want with the parts builder Niall Quickcrop

Is it possible to reach the back of the top tier from the front of the bottom tier, ie when standing in front of the bottom bed will I be able to reach the back of the top bed. The position I’m planning to put this bed means it won’t be accessible from the sides.

Hi Daniel Yes it is. We purposely make these beds 4ft wide for that very reason. Niall Quickcrop

Interested in purchasing this split level raised bed but faced with a sloping garden. Slope approximately 1 brick height on wall against which 6ft side would be placed. Would I need to dig in and will soil on both sides of wood cause problems.
Answered by Niall
on August 08th, 2019
Hi Ian You could leave the bottom board on the side of the slope off which would mean only the corner posts would have to be dug in. This is what we do when installing them for people. That said if you want to dig in the complete 6ft side you can do that as soil on both sides of the wood is fine. The wood is treated completely to handle soil against it and no need for liners etc. Niall Quickcrop

Hi,Im looking for a raised bed to go on top of lawn. I'm already growing raspberries. But would like to start growing cucumbers, courgettes, tomatoes and lettuce. Would the 2 tiered raised bed work for all of theses or would it be better to get 2 separated raised bed one for raspberries and the other for veg ? thanks Claire. The bed will be going close to a fence.
Answered by Niall
on March 18th, 2019
Hi Claire You might be better with a narrower bed for the Raspberries. They will work fine in the Split level for year one and two but you will then see them popping up in the 2nd part of the Split level and eventually the Raspberries will take over Niall Quickcrop

Hi I’m thinking of buying some raised beds . I’m going to have to build on a large slab of concrete. Any suggestions?
Answered by Niall
on August 03rd, 2018
Hi Maurice That is not an issue. Just make sure to buy the liners for the beds. This will allow water to pass through the beds but make sure they don't bring any soil with them. Also you will be best to go for beds 14 inches or higher so you have a good enough depth of soil to grow in as you have no ground soil below the bed Regards Niall Quickcrop

Is the timber certified to be used for organic food crop?
Answered by Niall
on March 09th, 2018
Hi Hanka. The timber is not certified as it is a natural product it doesn't need to be however the preservative used to treat the wood in the sawmills to help it last longer in our climate is certified by the Soil association as perfectly fine to use when growing food Regards Niall Quickcrop

We recently purchased one of these and are planning to place it directly into concrete. Is there anything we need to consider from a drainage perspective? Thanks
Answered by Niall
on February 21st, 2018
Hi Matt. If it is going on concrete it may be best to use a liner (we have them on the website). It is really just so that any water that leaks out from the base doesn't bring soil with it. If it is going on soil or grass this is not an issue.

Hi Jing. There is no difference between the split level flower bed and the raised vegetable bed. We just made a Flower Bed section because we kept getting asked could you grow flowers in the vegetable bed products. I hope this answers your question.

I bought this earlier this year, and I love it. Question: Which of your cloches or growhouses would you recommend for use with this bed?
Answered by Andrew
on October 12th, 2015
Hi Michelle. I'm afraid we don't have a cloche which will fit the split level bed because of the 2 tier nature of the design. You could make up a cloche to fit using our mini polytunnel system if you are handy at DIY. You would need to make up a standard 6x4 mini tunnel and then add sides to the lower tier of the bed to make the base all the same height. We can supply everything you will need, if you would like to mail me on andrew@quickcrop.ie or call us on 10788 298 795 I can go into more detail. I hope this helps. Andrew
