Description
The Premier Split Level Raised Vegetable Bed is one of our most substantial and attractive looking large wooden planters. This raised bed is built on 2 levels: a 35 cm high section and a 53 cm high section - meaning you can grow everything in this bed, including the deepest root crops.
The Split Level bed looks fantastic when built against a wooden garden fence. The 2 tiers make for a very attractive display and can be planted with crops from the higher tier tumbling down to the lower section.
Our Premier range of raised beds feature thicker 33.5 mm timber (compared to the 22 mm thick Allotment range) for extra strength and a longer life.
Features:
- Perfect for growing all kinds of fruit and vegetable crops
- 991 Litres of soil will fill this bed (i.e. 16.5 x 60 Litre Bags)
- All our Premier range of raised beds are made from FSC certified wood (from responsibly managed forests)
Square Foot Gardening
Our Split level planter is an ideal bed for use in square foot gardening, with each tier dividing exactly into 12 square foot sections. The large amount of soil capacity allows for deep plant roots, meaning you can plant at close spacings and harvest a huge amount of vegetables from this raised bed.
Simply divide the bed into square foot sections using garden twine and galvanized nails (as shown in our video) and try one of the most popular planting techniques for raised bed gardens.
Our planter boxes aren't just for growing vegetables; they can also be used as flower beds where the split level design looks particularly well.
Pressure Treated Timber for Longer Life
All our beds are made from timber cut and treated to our specification in our our local sawmills. The preservative used is certified by the soil association as safe for use with organic food crops.
We treat all our timber after it has been cut to size: this means that every part of the raised bed will be treated properly and it will last longer as a result. A lot of other raised bed manufacturers treat their timber and then cut to size, meaning the ends will remain untreated and will tend to rot much earlier.
The Premier range of raised beds should last at least 10 good years.
