What is Soil Renew?

Soil Renew is a soil improver consisting of a combination of organic plant matter and essential natural micro-organisms for a more fertile soil and stronger healthier plants. This combination creates humus in the soil which will improve the quality of that soil on an ongoing basis. Soil renew comes in pellet form that should be applied to the surface of the soil once a year, there is no need to dig it in.

Soil is the foundation for all life in the garden so it should be looked after and used as the basis for any garden type. Healthy soil should be full of life and rich in organic matter. Soil renew provides this organic matter leading to better soil that retains more water and produces healthier, stronger plants.

  • Retains nutrients in the soil

  • Accelerates production of humus from organic matter

  • Improves soil structure and content

  • Increases micro-bacterial life in the soil

  • Improves root structure

  • Produces healthier, disease-resistant plants

  • Limits moss growth due to better aeration of the soil

  • Natural organic action – Eliminates the need for chemical additives

  • Encourages biodiversity

Soil Renew is a great product. A less fierce way to feed plants. Plants seem to do very well after application. I apply in March at the beginning of the growing season. One mishap that occurred last year I had been ground feeding garden birds with suet pellets all winter long. When I spread the Soil Renew pellets in March they look just like the suet pellets and the birds ate them all. Yes every single one.

I was delighted that the delivery was very quick. I cannot comment on the effectiveness since I've just put it into the soil. Be happy to tell you next year

This is the second time I've used Soil Renew. I use it in the Autumn on my lawn. It has helped to improve aeration on my heavy clay soil and works better than trying to use mechanical means to aerate. I have a large area to cover (700 sq mtr) so it is a bit expensive but it saves in the long run as it drastically reduces the amount of other types of fertiliser that I have to apply. I haven't tried it yet in my raised beds as I've always just used pelleted chicken manure but plan to buy an extra tub next autumn to apply to my beds overwinter.

A little on the expensive side and we do not know what it is made from so has to be taken on trust. Am going to give it a try on my raised beds. Not sure if I should apply it now, early winter, or await the coming spring.

It is difficult to quantify the results as I have used manure as well but my garden did seem particularly abundant last year (though this may have been due to the excellent Summer). I cannot fault delivery and customer service which was excellent.

Practical size of container. Found the soil renew had an almost immediate effect on the grassland and vegetable patches where it was applied. Previously waterlogged grazing area is now good soil, a lot drier and grass has returned to a fresher healthier green despite the downturn in the weather. Not economical for large scale agricultural applications but excellent results so far on small experimental area

Hi Andrew. I bought a Trug from you and tried out a variety of veg this summer in Horizon Veg Compost. I was really disappointed in the "harvest"! Not sure what happened. Tiny carrots/ 3 actual french beans (!) and garlic went into little balls in the soil. Would adding Soil Renew help things for next year?

Hi Gwen I would personally add one or two 60 litre bags of Envirogrind. They will make all the difference and ensure you have a great crop Niall Quickcrop

If I use green manure on my allotment can I still use soil renew first? Or do I have to cover the soil with weed free membrane after I have spread the soil renew on the allotment

Hi Susan Once you put the soil renew down first you can then plant or sow the green manure in to the soil Niall Quickcrop

Can this be added to the surface of a lawn? Will it still break down and improve the soil without damaging the lawn?

Hi Keith. Yes, Soil Renew was originally designed for improving pasture land so ideally suited to lawns. It will not damage the lawn in any way and will improve the soil structure and health of the grass.

Can this be used on top of wood chip mulch? It says not to dig it in but would this still apply if it is not in direct contact with the soil?
Answered by Niall

Hi Dee It would eventually make its way down in to the soil it will just take a lot longer. It is better if left directly on the soil Niall Quickcrop

Is this good for carrots, onions, and beets? Or is there a better product for them.

Good morning Todd. Yes this product will be good for building up the soil for all Vegetable crops but to be honest we have a product called Seafeed which gives better crop results. You will find it on the website. The Soil Renew is more for building up the soil for long term stability.
