Aster flowers are of the classic daisy shape with open petals and a yellow centre. ‘Little Carlow’ creates a beautiful display of small violet/blue daisies in frothy clumps up to 0.9m high. Asters will grow happily in the shade so good for a difficult spot. Adds welcome splashes of colour in a late Summer border from August to October.
Goes well with:
Flowers - Actaea Simplex (bugbane), Helenium ‘Moorheim Beauty’ (Autumn Daisy), Sedum.
Grasses - Molinia caerulea ‘Moorhexe’ (purple moor grass), Sesleria autumnalis (Autumn Moor Grass).
Care of Aster cordifolius Little Carlow
Apply a winter mulch of well rotted manure to encourage growth the following year. Cut back foliage in March.
Wildlife Benefits
