Description
These striking red dahlias offer an interesting look and are fantastic as cut flowers. With large pointed petals, this dahlia flowers from July until the first frost. Plant from March - May in direct sunlight. Use soil rich in organic material and avoid using nitrogen heavy feeds as they encourage leaf growth over flower growth. Stems can grow up to 130cm so staking may be required.
Cut Flowers
This makes for a great late cut flower. Harvest when fully open. It is best to harvest in early morning or in the evening and place stems into warm water (20°C) immediately. Change water every 2 days minimum.
Over Wintering
- Tubers can be dug up after the first frosts and kept for the following year.
- Dry out for 1-2 days
- Store in vermiculite or sawdust at 4-10°C
- Avoid excess moisture or cold
