Description
The Schwegler 3FF Bat Colony Box is made with durable 'woodcrete' and comes with a galvanized steel wire hanger. Suitable for a wide range of bat species common in Ireland. This large box can accommodate even cave dwelling species and offers plenty of room for large colonies to move freely within the box. This lets them regulate the temperature in the box (huddling close together in cold and spreading out in higher temperatures). It is self cleaning as droppings can freely fall out even if the box is densely occupied.
If inspections are necessary (science or for functional purposes) then the inspection hatch allows for easy access without disturbing the colony. You can easily view the entire interior using a mirror and torch.
Installation:
Hang at least 3m from the ground to protect from predators. Higher if possible. Suitable locations include: trees, walls, hunting hides, tall posts. Ensure there is easy access below clear from any large obstructions.
