Description
This horseradish is grown in our nursery and comes ready to pot on. It may be a young plant but the roots are well established.
Horseradish from the mustard family is primarily grown for it's root, which is powerfully spicy. Horseradish sometimes produces small white flowers in the summer. With other plants you may want to either encourage or discourage flower growth, with horseradish it makes little difference to the root production.
The root is generally grated and eaten raw as cooking lowers the heat. Most wasabi worldwide is actually horseradish and mustard powder with green colouring. The leaves are also edible and can be used in salads.
Plant in a dedicated bed/container so it doesn't take over. Even after harvesting, any small roots remaining will regrow. It will survive freezing winters and can be harvested in late Autumn and early Spring.
This plant comes in a P9 pot and is ready to plant out. P9 pots are 9cm in diameter and are commonly used by professional horticulturists.
It can also be purchased as part of our 'choose your own' herb products at a reduced price (see recommended products below).
