Description
Crocosmia Lucifer has strong sword like green foliage and arching stems of vibrant orange to red funnel like flowers. It will form a clump which can be divided after a number of years. This plant is ideal for the back of a border, plant in drifts for maximum impact. Does not require stalking.

Care of Crocosmia Lucifer
Resist removing the faded foliage in autumn and cover the crown of the plant with bracken or bark chips to protect the plant against frost damage. Lift and divide congested colonies in spring, planting the divided sections 8-10cm (3-4in) deep.
Wildlife Benefits
Crocosmia attract both hoverflies and bumble bees. If possible, resist the urge to tidy up straggly or faded leaves in the autumn as a number of insects use these for shelter over winter, and the old leaves also help protect emerging shoots from spring frosts.
