Raised Garden Beds For Growing Vegetables

We've re-designed our 'Premier' range of raised garden beds. We decided to go for a chunkier version of the hugely popular 'Classic' bed made with a much thicker 35mm timber for extra strength if you need it and a longer life. Some peoples raised beds can be subject to heavy knocks from passers by, garden tools or machinery, and vegetable growers may be using theirs for multiple crops in any season. These people require a heavier stronger type of timber which is able to take the wear and tear. Along with being very aesthetically pleasing, these are just some of the reasons Quickcrop designed and manufacture thicker timber growing systems like our "Premier" range. Like all our raised beds, the premier range is very easy to assemble and comes with all the screw necessary and full instructions. Click here for more information on raised beds.

Choose Your Size:
We supply these raised garden beds in flatpack kits in the following sizes: 4ft x 4ft, 6ft x  3ft, 6ft x 4ft and the massive 6ft x 6ft. You can choose the required size to fit your garden by clicking the BED SIZE tab above the add to cart button.

Longer Life Raised Vegetable Beds From Quickcrop

All our beds are made from timber cut and treated to our specification in our our local sawmills. The preservative used is certified by the soil association safe for use with organic food crops and does not horribly discolour or leave a nasty smell or feel on the wood. A lot of other raised bed manufacturers treat their wood and then cut it to size in an effort to save time and costs. This leads to untreated ends on the timber that suck up moisture and become prone to rot and warp. Our timber is pressure treated after it has been cut to size, leaving no part of the raised bed kit untreated. This helps them last for many years of intensive vegetable gardening.

Very happy with my raised bed which I am converting into a run for my tortoise. There was a minor issue with a plank of wood which the company replaced very quickly. I was able to put the bed together alone and all fixings appeared to be of great quality. I’m that happy that I have ordered a second one to extend the run.

Great quality timber - much more robust and better finished than the typical garden centre offerings. Deducted one star because there were no screws or instructions included. Not a huge deal as its pretty obvious and I had plenty of screws in the toolbox.

The beds are great, arrived promptly. Easy enough to put together once you have an electric screwdriver (you do need this).

This bed is easy to assemble providing you have an electric screwdriver. I can't imagine using a manual screw driver to do it however as the wood is so thick. This speaks well of the quality of timber used in the construction however. I'll be primarily using this bed in conjunction with my 14 inch bed as a salad bed. The delivery time was very impressive as well.

A simple structure , easy to assemble , no screws included and quite long screws are required, I had them to hand, but I would think many people would not, a trip to the local DIY for screws would be a frustration .

I got this raised bed because I really liked the look of the picture above, I thought it looked fantastic against the stones. I have it outside now near the shed. I hope to see something coming up in the next week or so. A really sturdy little raised bed. thanks!!

I haven't made the bed yet on account of bad weather but it looks good with clear instructions. Delivery was 3 days even though I ordered late in the evening. Very good, looking forward to growing when the weather improves!

I was hoping to purchase two 3x12 9in high bed for soft fruit. Just have 2 queries - this isn't too narrow for full grown plants is it? Also - how many raspberry / blackberry plants would in fit in each?

Hi Elizabeth. A 3ft bed will be ideal for soft fruit. I would keep a row of raspberries to 2ft wide in an open garden, Blackberries are trained along wires in centre of bed so plenty big enough for them also.

Hi, I want to grow tomatoes, mainly in a greenhouse but in a bed that can also be brought outdoors - so want one that we can attach wheels to. What would you recommend? Thanks, Anne

Hi Anne We don't have any beds on wheels due to the weight of the soil. However you can bring on tomato plants in Growbags which we have and once the plants have established to about 2ft you can lift the bags outside and they will continue to grow. Niall Quickcrop

Am I correct in reading that I can get a raised bed in 12ft by 2ft kits, 9inch high ?
Answered by Niall
on March 28th, 2018
Thats right Philip. They are made up of 2 x 6ft beds fixed together. A 12ft board would be to long and would bow with the weight of the soil so they need support across the mid section hence the two beds fixed together Regards Niall Quickcrop

How much soil would I need to fill a 14 inch high 8ft x 6ft raised bed?
Answered by Niall
on February 12th, 2018
Hi Kathleen. As this is quite a large bed it will take roughly 1400 litres to fill from top to bottom. That said you only need very good quality soil mix on the top 9/10 inches of the bed for good vegetables so 850/900 litres of good soil mix on top would be sufficient.

Hi What is the timber treated with? How environmentally safe is it and how safe is it fir food growing?
Answered by Andrew
on February 08th, 2016
Thank you for your question Fiona. The wood is treated with Tanalith E which is certified by the soil association as fine for use when growing Organic food close to the soil. It is both perfectly fit for use when growing food and slows down the weathering of the wood so good for the environment.
