As usual, I didn't plant the sets as quickly as I should have but they are planted now and were sprouting shoots in less than a week. I am growing some of them just for the green shoots as scallions are something I really miss in my diet when autumn arrives. The others are planted in a large container and I intend to grow them to full onions. Each set was firm and of good quality which is something that is hard to find in mainstream shops. Delivery was really fast and the sets were well packaged in recycled cardboard to prevent light prematurely sprouting the sets. Five stars.

Hi Jason Yes they do very well in greenhouses. Watering once things warm up in Spring would be once a week a good heavy watering Niall Quickcrop

Will these onions keep well? Some of mine are going to seed, so should I take them up and will they keep??
Answered by Niall
on June 18th, 2020
Hi Mairead Yes they will store well but not the ones that are running to seed. It is almost time to harvest onions (another week or so). Typically what i do is take the ones that are running to seed now and use them over the coming weeks. The rest can be harvested in a few weeks time and hung up for storing Niall Quickcrop

Is this variety recommended for saving seeds to later sow from seed?
Answered by Niall

Hi Conor The short answer is yes however you need to leave the onions in the ground for two years and then let them go to seed before saving. A long process Niall Quickcrop
