Description
The Ridan Pro 400 is an eco-friendly, self-sufficient composting solution suitable for schools & colleges, restaurants & catering, care homes or commercial premises. It can handle up to 10 tonnes of Food and garden waste annually, or 200kg a week.
The composting process works by turning a handle which is attached to a series of gears or paddles. This aerates the compost mixture and will push broken-down compost through a collection outlet.
When the Pro 400 is regularly fed with food waste and carbon-rich materials, the inner temperature can reach around 60°C, resulting in a composting process that is 32 times faster than traditional 'cold' composting.
Ridan's composters have a weatherproof galvanised steel frame, with an insulating jacket that retains heat within the unit. Both cooked and uncooked food can be added, as well as garden and animal waste.
When you collect compost from the outlet, it will be broken down but not fully matured. The next step is to add it to the Maturation Bin (sold separately). Compost should be left in the maturation bin for 2-3 months before it is ready for use.

For optimal results:
Food waste that you add to the composter should be mixed in a 50/50 ratio with brown/carbon materials, such as wood pellets, wood shavings or sawdust.
The composter will operate best at around 3/4 full.
Large pieces of food should be cut up before adding to the composter.
Drain off excess fluids and avoid using large bones.
