Small Vitopod Electric Propagator Single or Double Height

In a nutshell....

The small Vitopod is the best heated seed propagator out there. It will ensure more success in growing warmer climate crops all year round

The Best Heated Electric Propagator

"This is simply the best heated propagator on the market. Best Buy Propagator." BBC Gardeners' World magazine

The Vitopod is the best electric propagator on the market, it's not a cheap unit, but for bullet proof construction and accurate seed propagation it is excellent value. This is the propagator vegetable gardeners have been waiting for. The Vitopod heated propagator has been designed by growers for growers and is the best product on the market bar none. We have been so impressed by the build quality and useability of these units and now have several in our commercial polytunnels.Check our video below for some of the Vitopods amazing features.

The Vitopod is unique in that it features a stackable system of high quality acrylic sides that enable the unit to be built up to 4ft. Most propagators on the market are restricted in height which makes bringing on larger, warmth loving plants a problem. The unit features large adjustable vents to adjust humidity which ensures your precious plants don't suffer damping off.

The base features a fully enclosed and completely water proof heating element which gives an even spread of heat across the base with no hot or cold spots. Temperature is precisely controlled by the include thermostat which can be accurately set in 1 degree increments between 5 and 30 degrees celcius. The vitopod heated propagator offers more control than any other propagator and can be used as a seed or cuttings propagator.

These units really are built to last. The lids and sides are made from strong acrylic and are treated to prevent UV deterioration. Cheaper propagators will suffer from brittle, yellow covers after a number of years but this won't happen with the Vitopod. This is a serious piece of kit, after years of being disappointed with other propagators on the market here's one that really works.

Length 56cm x Width 55cm x Height 24cm

Available in Single or Double Height

Please choose the required size from the Height Tab above.

A Vitopod heated propagator with the double height option can be used as a mini greenhouse and will protect plants for longer without you having to heat an entire greenhouse or polytunnel.

Hi Just wondering, where do you connect the thermostat probe to? Does it go directly into the soil?
Answered by Niall
on December 29th, 2020
Hi Aoife Yes. The manufacturer says to leave it on the base of the unit but this doesn't make sense as you need to be measuring the soil temperature. As that is all that counts in relation to propagation. So you just stick it in the soil. Niall Quickcrop

I have set up my new Vitopod. So far so good! 1. The instructions are unclear where they refer to "not immersing the base in water" Can I get water on the base of the Vitopod i.e. inside, where I place the seedlings? Or must the interior base be kept dry? 2. I have set the thermostat to 21C, but the temperature is only going up to 17C? is this normal, the Vitopod is indoors in a normal warm shed? 3. Should the thermostat sensor be placed in the seedling soil (as per your video; or placed one inch in from the side, 1/2 inch over the base - as per the instructions. Thanks so much, very happy so far!
Answered by Niall

The unit is fully sealed so no issue getting water on the base The range of the Vitopod is 14 degrees so it needs to be in a room of 7 degrees to get up to 21. In the compost. We don't agree with the manufacturers instructions as per the video as it is the compost temperature that is all important Niall Quickcrop

Can the pod be placed outside or does it need to be in a greenhouse?
Answered by Niall
on October 16th, 2019
Hi Nick It can as it is sealed and waterproof. However the temperature range is only 18 degrees so if you have it outside in very low temperatures the unit may struggle to get to the temperature you require. Niall Quickcrop

what is the power consumption ( and range) please?
Answered by Andrew
on February 03rd, 2017
Hi Tony. Consumption really depends on the temperature you set the unit at and the outside temperature. The vitopod will heat up to 30 degees C. I will need to contact the manufacturers about power consumption and revert back to you.
